OnePlus Open Android 15 Update Paused + Post Update Thoughts

I personally have had an awesome experience with 15 so far and it's really made me love my my open again. The last two updates were really buggy, but the refresh rate bug has been fixed for me, no noticeable issues in day to day use (so far...) and my battery life has been phenomenal. I can go two or more days without a charge. My battery life wasn't bad before, but mine has been substantially improved, since updating to 15.

I dont really use ai features that much so for me this update was great because it feels so much smoother, floating window interactions are more intuitive and it fixed annoying bugs like the ui lagging while playing videos and swiping up for the app switcher not being smooth. I think im still having the refresh rate issue where it wont go down to 1 hz because of my battery life but that could be something else.

I think the fact that a 2023 model phone is even worthy to compare with the current year model phones says everything. I love the open and have no regrets about switching from the z fold.

Same! I love it. The last update was a huge bummer for me and buggy, but I personally have had nothing but a great time with 15 so far. Refresh rate bug was fixed for me, haven't had any issues and my battery life has been phenomenal; greatly improved in oxygen os 15.

Speaking of faster animations: if you tap & hold on the main home screen and go into the gear icon called "more" there is an animation effect setting that you can set to "enhanced" that speeds up animations. Not sure if it's better than the method you mentioned but it looks great too.

Can't wait for this update. The November update of Oxygen 14 wrecked my battery life. I hope this update will fix that.

Imagine my surprise when watching a Shane Craig video and my post comes up with the bird lol! Let me also clarify that results have been mixed for me as well, sometimes I also end up with similar results. I tend to find that outdoors on highly zoomed in photos that tend to lose resolution is where it tends to do better, although it has limited use case in that scenario. It can be frustrating but I also wanted to give OnePlus their flowers for when it does work!

The best results I've seen with the detail boost have come with cropped images. I think its main purpose is to spruce up low resolution photos, and so if you use it on a photo you just took, you won't see much. But if you crop into a small part of that photo and use it, you can get some noticeable results. Another spot I found it gives noticeable results is in low-light photos with some movement. (You also might want to see if you need to update your AI Algorithm on the phone)

I switch to the s24 ultra since I had to get my open repaired. I love this device I just don't feel like switching my texts over and stuff yet lol. I like it away better than my 24u. Especially charging speeds and IR blaster

The messaging app bug is so bad, you need to restart to get it to work properly, but then the restart bug comes in, every time it would say that there's no sim card.

I have that problem on my 12 sometimes, I've found to fix it make a call and once the call starts ringing it fixes the messages bug. Maybe give that a try

Also, I use the notes app while in church putting down little blurps and Bible verses that go with them during the service. I went back and I used the AI summarize and AI add detail, it worked very well in either circumstance. So it looks like it works well if you make your own notes in the OnePlus notes app and use AI.

I'm super intrigued by the OnePlus Open, but where I think One Plus, Samsung, and even Google in some sense, are going wrong is in the camera department. I know the components on these things are expensive and that justifies part of the expense of these foldables, but if people are having to fork over $1500-$2000 for a foldable, it's got to be a premium experience in my mind. Pro-level cameras experience is part of that.

Best I can say about Oxygen OS 15 is refinement. It feels thought through with touches of whimsey, something Apple used to be great about but not as much anymore.

One issue I am still having with my Open and my mothers 8T. You used to be able to set a short message that would display at the bottom of the lock screen and I always set our phones to have the others phone number displayed in case one of our phones gets lost. Earlier this year we got new phone numbers and I still can not find where to edit the text.

After a full year, i am now daily driving my S24U, but i do pick up my Open more often than i did the S24U when it wasn't my daily driver. Have you ever thought about getting the OnePlus Pad 2 and trying out that ecosystem? Outside of Dex and the S-Pen, Oneplus can compete with Samsung in that area.

I observed that the Sound quality from earbuds or IEM head phones is pretty bad in Oneplus open. Not sure if I have to change any settings. Please explore that and do a detailed video on sound quality using ear phones.

Still waiting in the EU. This ui lag I've been having since 2 updates ago is driving me seriously insane. Ui lag as in suddenly everything will run at 10fps unless you re-open or restart the app, this also happens in the main ui etc

I thought my youtube mini player bug was gone but its still here😅 cant browse while mini player is active. All my touch capacitive movements are registered as if I'm "moving" the mini player, but I'm not. ill try selecting another video and it'll just full screen the mini or drag it.

I found a bug in Facebook, when sharing something and writing about it you can't see what you are writing 😅 also KZbin seems to have a spring effect when you scroll. Also the first time opening WhatsApp you can see artifacts when you get out of a conversation

Well, I am not so happy that OnePlus changed default switch app mechanics in 15. I mean e.g. returning to desktop when opened an app in app drawer or swipe app.

I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem. Before the update I was able to put different profile pictures on the front and inner screens now it seems that they both have to be the same picture. Any ideas? Also is there any way to change the app draw background color? Thanks

Stupid OnePlus... never again will I buy their crap.. my Cupra app and other apps have stopped working because it lags behind all the updates... so damn tired of them.
