I currently have the Google 9 Pro Fold as my daily driver while my Z Fold 6 is collecting dust (gonna use to as a trade in for my next foldable) and I feel the One Plus Open 2 is gonna be my next choice! I'll be curious to see how it stacks up to the Pixel in terms of camera quality, speed, battery life, and the quality of the inner/outer displays
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964Ай бұрын
I completely understand that. Don't be surprised if they don't offer a trade-in for the Z Fold 6. Typically they don't put the most recent competitors' phones as an option. Probably because it would be insulting what they're willing to pay. You might get more selling it privately. Hopefully I'm just blowing smoke and that won't be the case. The OnePlus Open already is better than the new Pixel Fold/ZF6 in many areas. The OnePlus 2 will probably blow every other fold out even more especially if they work on their software more. The software isn't bad on the OnePlus, but it is behind Samsung.

Keep up the good work, Sir! PS. First, thanks for fixing the mic quality! There isn't any mic clipping anymore. I know it wasn't easy to find a good BT mic. I appreciate your effort on that! Second, I'm just pointing out to you to please do some more in-depth research on the phones, preferably from the original source (OEM) so that you do not make some blunders that may undervalue your great work. Here are some facts below: 1. It's called the Z Fold SE (Special Edition), not the Fold 6 SE. It doesn't matter what others are mistakenly calling it. 2. The Z Fold SE comes in only one storage variant, which is 512GB. Even in China, it has the same storage capacity, where it is released by the name of Z Fold W25, where it has different materials (ceramic back) and special color (reflective back with golden sides). Thanks! I'll be looking forward to more of your reviews!

I do appreciate your input and thank you for spending the time to post your thoughts. Most of what I do is based on the perception of the viewers. In order to get the video out, the most popular keywords must be used for it to resonate with viewers and their search terms. If you noticed in the video I said let's just call it the Z Fold SE. I hope you can understand and appreciate where I'm coming from. In order to succeed, viewers must be pulled in with the KZbin algorithm, otherwise I'm just wasting time and not benefiting anyone. That said, I'm always learning and counting on viewers like yourself to keep me on track. I end every video asking for input and I truly enjoy it. It's good you were able to determine that in time to return it. I didn't find it to be in the way for myself, but I do agree it is rather large. As I have posted here often, you know I've wanted a foldable for 2 years. Samsung just didn't deliver. They fell behind for my needs. I am a big Samsung fan. I have a S24U now. 2 things pushed me: Black Friday and hearing about OPO version 2 coming. I did not want to wait any longer. But I was not sure as OP has had some screen hardware issues so I did not trade in without my 24U to be there as a backup. I got it for 1199 at Amazon. My first reaction was wow it seemed so small compared to the 24U. I was so focused on the larger screen foldable debate, I forgot about it vs the Samsung 24U ;=) It's been years since I had a OnePlus, I had the OnePlus 6T and it got screen burn in, so I was a bit hesitant, but they won me over with the design. The fast charge is so fast it is crazy. What a pleasure to get a little case and the power brick in the box. I'm so used to Samsung's software and am such a fan, I'm really struggling with setting everything up. Wishing I had good lock etc. But I'm going to persevere and really spend a few days just setting everything up the way that I want. It's like icon mania right now on my phone😅. My E-sim remains in the 24U while I play with the OPO. The comments made about this phone are so true. It's really a lovely phone. The design it's just so well done. I forgot how much I liked the little alert slider. Really impressive how lightweight the phone is too. How beautiful the screens are. How minimalistic the crease is. So far the fingerprint reader is a con for me as I am used to the under screen version. It will just take time. I think right now, all my issues are just lack of familiarity. Samsung has a solid software experience. The S Pen can be gotten around with either a capacitive pen or a Oppo BT pen, need be. I think I will trade in for the OPO 2, but who knows, this may be enough. I do not care about wireless charging.
@GOTgoodoldtech-1964Ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience. I enjoy hearing your views and insights. Here's a good tip on the power button fingerprint scanner. Scan both your index finger and the one right next to it, your middle finger. That way when you just pick up the phone and you're touching the sides, it'll automatically sign in for you. You don't have to worry about hunting around with your index finger when you've got both of them scanned in to be read. I scan in the two fingers on my left hand, which is usually the hand I'm picking up the phone with, and then I also scan in the thumb and the index finger on my right hand. Just so when it's sitting down or I may be holding it in my right hand, I could scan quickly there. You can also turn on facial recognition if that's something you are interested in. I'm hoping with the next gen the facial recognition will step up like the Pixels and iPhone where you can unlock your banking account and other apps through facial recognition. It's very convenient on the Pixel phones. I'd like to ask that you keep posting your experience. I love hearing it and I want to follow you on your journey. Thank you for being part of the community. Again, thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate you. 👍
@dorothy135Ай бұрын
@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 Thank you for the tip! I did add facial recognition as well. As I mentioned I think having had it for about 4 hours is a big part of the adjustment. There are so many settings, I need to figure them all out. I miss the edge panel functionality - the OP is not as robust so far and seems less intuitive, although that may just be familiarity making it seem that way. What I am trying to do is look for the positive vs. focusing on the misses. I need to set up some app pairs and so forth as that is a big part of my workflow. I think if Samsung ever catches up it will be amazing. But for now OP is far and away better in this class of phones in my limited experience in the overall sense. I recalled reports of the home screen disappearing and I think that would be very upsetting as I am working hard on layout ;=) I still cannot believe that crease is so minimal and that battery is so fast...oh my ;=) As an aside, a weird thing happened. When I got the box, the seal was tampered with - not cut through all the way, but like someone dragged a nail across the seam and then maybe thought better of it ...I dunno. Everything seemed fine but I called Amazon to report it. I did not feel like doing the whole return etc but if anything gets weird, I will exchange. Thanks again for a nice space to chat in!

@dorothy135 Here's an edge app you can use similar to the edge bar on the Samsung. Its function is a little limited compared but does the basic features. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hiruffy.controller I do have a bit of experience with work arounds to match Samsung apps. I'm happy to suggest options as they come up for you. I need to make more "how to" videos. Enjoy the process. 😄

A little confused: So Oneplus and Oppo are basically the same brand?
@GOTgoodoldtech-196424 күн бұрын
I understand the confusion. The Oppo Find N3 is manufactured by Oppo and OnePlus has purchased rights to slap their brand on the device and rename it. So yes, they are the same phone, however, OnePlus uses their own skin or OS over Android. I've heard that the Oxygen OS by OnePlus is much smoother and faster than the Oppo OS. If you had both phones the look, feel and even the hardware would be the same but the use would be totally different. OnePlus seems to be a more popular brand name. So I switched my carriers as I told you in another post as the OnePlus open was not compatible with them and now when I call people from either of my phones, my Samsung or my OnePlus, the quality is not there, it sounds like static or muffled. I turned off Wi-Fi calling. I did a few other things, but I'll tell you what ... if this turns out that this new carrier that accepts the OnePlus open turns out to be a problem, i'm just about going to pull my hair out. I'll know for sure when my son puts the T-Mobile SIM in his phone as his phone is perfectly fine. My samsung was as well to my knowledge.I never had any complaints. Then either I have some really bad luck or I have two phones that don't sound right all of a sudden. I suppose, maybe I can get a new sim card. I really am over this. @GOTgoodoldtech-1964 oh and just as an aside I actually found a case that is just perfect for me for the OnePlus open. Doesn't have magsafe. But the case covers the camera even though I have a camera protector over it it has a screen protector on the front frame some have found that it interfered with sensitivity I did not because I only have the original screen protector that came with the phone and I think perhaps others were trying to put it over another screen protector. I've not had any issues with touch. It has a back that has a nice texture to it and that it's smooth but it's grippy. It also has a little kickstand. That said it's a bit of a chunky monkey but I currently use a wallet type case put out by otterbox for my s24 ultra that's actually made for the s23 ultra that I made work. So I'm used to a chunkier type of case and for me this is exactly what I needed oh and it also has a hinge cover. It's put out by a company that I never heard of called libeagle. I saw a lady on KZbin do a video of it and a follow-up updated video and she was very helpful. The downside to it I would say is the case that goes on the back part it goes on for life and is extremely difficult to get off and caused me a total anxiety attack. I say that because it's not the kind of case if you were a frequent Sim swapper. If you were able to do esim it wouldn't be an issue. But for me it's a case that feels protective and I don't feel like I'm going to drop the phone when I have it open. Just thought I'd share.

That sounds like a really steep price to repair a OnePlus Open. That would actually be the price of a new one on sale somewhere else like eBay. Something just doesn't make sense there. Was the issue with the screen accidental damage from a drop? Were there any other signs that would be suspicious of accidental damage? I found it's always best to get additional insurance just in case there is accidental damage. I have my third one that's being repaired and it's not costing me anything. I don't think the comparison is fair. The SE isn't avaliable globally. It should be compared to the Z Fold 6, which it beats comfortably on almost all fronts imo (Excluding software). I think the SE is a closer match though and probably down to individual choice so I can see why you picked it. IMO it doesn't leave it in the dust. They trade blows on a few things and are in the real world probably very closely matched. Few points/quesitons. How can it be 9.2-3mm closed when its 4.8-9mm open? I think we're at the point of size being a personal choice. CPU really makes no odds for 99% of users these days, the difference is so minimal as to be mostly pointless. Cameras, its always subjective to a degree but on paper should be a win for Samsung. One Plus win the battery game by a mile! If the 5700mAh is in it that'll be impressive if the software is upto scratch along with the charge speed, wow! Still don't think OneUi can be beat on a foldable though so thats a win to Samsung. Thats my thoughts on it anyhow. Was interesting to hear yours.
@GOTgoodoldtech-196429 күн бұрын
You have a lot to unpack here. I am very pleased you shared your thoughts. First off this is still a functional comparison because we truly don't know the full specs of the OnePlus Open 2. The new Snapdragon gen 4 or Elite of you prefer is actually so efficient and fast it surpasses the Apple A18 Pro which is currently the fastest chip and blows past the Gen 3 in the Z Folds, on paper that is. We know the feeling and practical use is a different result. So in tech terms I believe it will blow past the Z Fold SE and 6 with ease. Even now the Gen 2 in the OEM OnePlus Open runs faster and smoother to the feel than the Z Fold 6, I have both and compared them here. Part I ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/d32viZKafrahgposi=Y7mfcT-LJ9WYqtrZ ), Part I ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKiYnqOYeLF_mbssi=mw0Y2vIjuDETTkY5 ) The thinness dimensions are based on thickness open and closed. Closed (folded) will be nearly twice the thickness as when it's open. The OnePlus 2 is rumored to be thinner than the Z Fold SE. The screen rumored to be the same size in diagonal as the Z Fold SE makes this the logical comparison. If you've not used the OnePlus or a Z Fold you are missing a huge difference in performance. IMO the OnePlus takes it. Camera performance does go to the Z Fold for now because of processing, not hardware. If the new OnePlus meets expectations with processing, then it will win in hardware and processing. Of course these are just my views from using the OnePlus Open and Z Fold 6 myself. Other reviews may vary. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts. I appreciate your support! 👍

In hardware agreed Chinese phones like my red magic, Huawei, Honor , One Plus, are far superior in software in my opinion the Samsung is lightyears ahead with stylus sketch to image and galaxy AI , edge panel , better customization and emulation for console gaming w Dex projection in my Samsung TV system and better apps in general, depends on prioritization

Samsungs software is much better. No way this is a better phone. You lose so much capability

Software is the only area Samsung wins at. That being said, the software on the OnePlus isn't even that bad.

You really need to spend some time using a OnePlus Open to discover how good the operating system really is. OnePlus actually is much faster and smoother than the Z Fold in performance. OpenCanvas they use is much better for multitasking as well. Samsung does have a lot of extra features through their Good Lock app. However, a lot of those features are already built in to the OnePlus Open 😺 software without having to download something extra. It's my view that if Samsung did not have Good Lock, which is an add-on feature, it would be lagging behind everyone else. I will say the biggest feature that makes Samsung stand out is Dex. Although in all my years using Samsung's, I rarely ever used Dex. I do appreciate your views and respect your opinion. Thank you for sharing and being part of the community. I appreciate your support. 👍👍

@@GOTgoodoldtech-1964 oh I'm still learning about what the OnePlus can do. I recently bought it on sale from Best Buy a few days ago. I'm liking everything so far when compared the the Fold 6 I returned.
