A cool thing about the game is that in the Refuge, the head librarian(George) has six personalities wich are determined by the face of the dice that is shown as her face, and there even is a book on her room talking about the multiverse theory.

the game was overshadowed by undertale's lunacy, deltarune, and doki doki literature club. breaking the 4th wall was back then really unique! .. sadly all the titles i already mentioned were played by "influencers" and celebrities, so oneshot was ignored. i finished the game 6 times! 2 times on a different machine! i simply love it!

I think it's fairly obvious that this game has some The Little Prince inspirations, which I love, with the fox & aeroplane pilot characters and the whole idea of taming.

If you do reset the game the entity makes a deal with you, so you can still play but niko gets to stay in their home, basically meaning that 'niko' in the 3rd and future play throughs looks like niko's reflection in the tower when the entity uses it to talk to them/you

@@EDsCorner The Switch is Simulating a PC's Desktop, i think it looks really great. I am going to play it once it is released (speculated release date is August 2/3, from the Timer in the trailer) (Extra info about that: Before the Solstice Update was out, that timer had the Exact timing until the day when the Update would release. The Switch version Trailer has its own timer there, that like i said is until August 2/3) Also, How to replay OneShot (like if you want to record a LetsPlay or let a family member play) you have to rename or delete the "Oneshot" folder in C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming

This game is ... something other than any type of media I ever experienced . This fells like plot of a great movie or series or visual novel but also have that type of immersion reserve only for characteristic rpgs . 4 wall breakes are masterpice and artstyle is so calming , despite the post apocalypse setting . It's really fairy tale mixed with hacking simulator ;) . Game has it's downsides and they are a few , but they never overshadow true beauty of this title .

@@DuoVersal Originally, the solstice was a free update. You will see the timer not knowing what it means, only after it reaches zero the free update it's up and you can replay the game.

[Spoiler] Personal, I think that one of the time this game hits the hardest for me is when Niko call you out for bringing them back in the solstice route. Like, I knows they later apologies for it later on, but to me, it the main reason I will never see Niko again. Because to bring them back would be ignoring all of their feeling and desire and that is something truly too much. Niko deserve better than to be a toy for us, and so that why I'm happy they got back to their home.

Yeah, I completely agree! On one hand, that scene conveys just how distraught Niko is from learning about the world being (supposedly) fake, on the other, it once again drives home the point that the actions we take as the player have a permanent effect.. Furthermore, it wouldn't really be fair to us either if we decided to restart the game, throwing away all it set up to teach us!

"M-hm!" Yup, all you said is true here. Long comment. Forgive me. I gots things to say. I've just now finished this game, thanks to all the recommendations you've given for it. I really appreciated this experience! I didn't know about this Solstice route, though, so I should do that next. If I may return a consideration, I would direct you to the rpgmaker game, OFF. Given your interests, you almost certainly know of it, and might remember its popularity back in, like, 2012. There are comparisons to be drawn to OneShot, such as, "savior leads an ostensibly holy mission led by an unseen yet tangibly present force of fate as the player through both doomed and dying lands and the files on your computer to the ultimate objective of-" ...the rest is spoilers, but if you know what I mean, you may see the similarity. I have to think OneShot drew a degree of inspiration from OFF. As for what I thought of OneShot, allow me to dramatically tell my dear little buddy the dramatic thoughts that the first ending left me with: "Dear Niko, I hope you are doing well now that you are returned home. I have gained much from the time we spent together. Seeing the last of that world was beautiful as it was tragic, but I'm glad to remember it. Thank you for trusting me through it all. You did well. Any resentment you may feel over what happened can be distressing, but I will have you know that that world owes you nothing for bringing you into it. Yet, upon your arrival, you did not seek escape, but you tried to help where you could, and that journey has made all the difference. Nico's arms holding the bulb look so comically thin on the overworld sprite, which is weird because on the detailed illustrations they're pretty well defined with large long sleeves. For most of the game I thought Nico was wearing the bulb like a necklace or had it tied to an over-the-shoulder belt or something. It's also weird how Nico puts away all the found items into an invisible inventory but not the bulb itself. It may be a large bulb but there were even bigger items that the inventory could hold without showing up on the sprite.

The end of the Solstice route made the World Machine my second favorite character behind Niko. It's always interesting seeing a robot/AI go insane over being forced to violate the three laws, but not turn into a megalomaniac in the process. Also I wish there was something like act 3 in DDLC where you can just hang out with the World Machine. I guess that's what everything post-Solstice is.

Hey, question! I'm a person that gets scared very easily and have dealt with people hacking into my games (that was about 2-4 years ago and tremendously scary) and I would not like to deal with exiting my game and, you know, having to literally re-arrange game files to do stuff, but I would like to connect with Niko, as she's a really cute character and the entire game's idea is helping me with my slight depression. I just wanted to know what you think, as you've played the game before.

I'm not a computer wiz at all, but I didn't really have much of trouble doing what the game asked and I don't think it's really a scary game. The atmosphere is often more comforting. I'd recommend having a guide on stand by for the 4th wall stuff if that's a bit too intimidating but OneShot is still a very nice game that can make a player feel good.

Really recommend playing this game on a console rather than a computer in your situation/ anyone else similar! The user interface for my Switch, compared to the Windows-ish “World Machine” computer display where I had to manipulate game files etc were so different I never felt like I’d been hacked. It functioned more as a framing device, like when old movies pull out to show a big book that says The End. I was even able to press the home button and do things like check screenshots of previous conversations when puzzle solving.

The OneShot doujin adds even more of the RAM jokes/puns similar to the ones the ram herdier makes in the game. There's a "Static RAM" represented by a ram frozen inside a block of ice and a "DDR RAM" where a ram is dancing on a Dance Dance Revolution pad.
