Thanks for the playthrough. I really enjoyed the narrating. :) This game actually looks a lot like the game Trudvang Legends was promised to be when it was on Kickstarter. Except the setting, of course.

Trudvang was the one that they changed a bunch after the initial campaign, right? I hope it turns out well!

@@OneStopCoopShop Yes, it really did. Eric Lang was the designer when the KS was launched, and I have no idea what exactly happened when he left, but they ended up redesigning the whole thing. Now I'm glad I didn't back it. This game, though, looks sweet, and if it wasn't for Arydia launching at the same time, I just might have backed it. :)

This game is everything that I wish tales of Arabian nights, choose your own adventure books, near and far, and sleeping gods were. I like it so much that I kind of want to make my own exactly like this but with a different theme. I dig the cozy anthropomorphized animal world vibe. I also like more serious vibes too.
@OneStopCoopShop Жыл бұрын
Fully agree! Arabian nights can be goofy fun, but this is great

Really excited for this one. Looks great. We broke out Tales of the Arabian Nights recently and leafing through the book quickly became a drag. There's a lot of negative sentiment in the comments about app-assisted games but the sheer amount of narrative text going on here and stat tracking makes this game perfectly suited to an app. I generally dislike screens at the table but the attitude of "apps automatically ruin any and every tabletop game" is just curmudgeonly if you ask me
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
I often don’t like apps replacing cards and things I manipulate. But replacing a giant book so I don’t have to flip back and forth? Heck yes :)
@pencilpauli94423 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike. Super fun Really tempted to back this as I don't have a narrative game nor an adventure game. Seems rather relaxing too without too many parts to have to think about. Would you consider the game has any sort of replay value though?
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
Replay... it's an interesting question. You make different choices in quests, and sometimes different stuff happens and you succeed or fail differently. But generally the intended play is to keep playing in the same world/campaign, even if you switch out characters and collect stuff. So there's a lot of PLAY in there, but whether or not you'd want to fully reset everything and start from scratch, seeing and doing some quests over again? That would be up to you.
@pencilpauli94423 жыл бұрын
@@OneStopCoopShop Lands of Galzyr isn't like the games I am used to, so maybe replayability is the wrong concept to apply to it. Appreciate your thoughts which are helpful, thanks.

It's funny all of these winged creatures in the story don't bother to fly when they need to climb something or are going to get captured. Ducks need to catch a boat. Outside of that one ability card it seems like the anthropomorphic theme wasn't woven into the story at all.

Game looks fantastic, like you said stories are engaging and well written, already backed. I do have to say that earthquake scenario right at the end caught me a bit off guard though and concerns me. It seemed more graphic and tense than a lot of the other adventures and felt out of place. And also now I've got to warn those I play with to watch out cause some scenarios might get heavy out of nowhere which kind of sucks cause my teen daughter and I both have PTSD and really want to play games like this to escape and check out a cool new world, not deal with more heavy tragedy. I mean I don't expect everything to go perfectly, but yikes I could have done without that encounter. And not to end my comment on the negative because I do really think it looks like a fantastic game, I just have to say that I love the multi-colored dice. Just saw another adventure campaign and the dice are all the same color and it just didn't feel as cool. Also like how you can adjust your characters skills every now and again as you go along. And the ability to adapt the map with new cards as you adventure is top notch.
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
That was the only event with that kind of tone out of all the ones I played, and I could have avoided it entirely by not heading over there until the timer ran out. That being said, I think Sami said at some point that the "main" ongoing story was about a war coming to the land, so there's the possibility that there might be some darker elements in the game. When I play with my kids, I'll probably just alter the narration on the fly. I do that a lot :)
@TheSludgeMan3 жыл бұрын
@@OneStopCoopShop glad to hear there is a "main" narrative thread, i have already backed this game but i was disappointed when you described it as more of a series of random side quests than a cohesive story
@fubarbox3 жыл бұрын
Seems like a fun solo game or choose your adventure story rather. I can see a lot of downtime between players though and it getting boring in a group of more than two, especially with all the reading. Does this game have an overall campaign conclusion/victory condition in co-op and competitive? Also what is the victory condition for one off coop games? So far the game looks beautiful and like great fun for a solo player.
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
Yes, agreed that 1-2 will likely be best for most play groups. As for a conclusion, in a single session there is one competitive “winner”, whoever gets the most prestige, though everyone’s story and quests still continue into the next month. I’m co-op there’s never really a winner. It’s all about the stories you encounter month to month.

I'm rather bummed about this title. I have been rather busy trying to stay afloat this last year and a half. Never even heard about the kickstarter... When I saw the reviews I knew I would love this for me and my family. Then I saw the $200 price tag and knew it would never happen anytime soon. right now food bills are enough. @@OneStopCoopShop sure enough .. but IMO a game needs to have an interesting decision space ... if im going to play a "game" that is just story , ill go watch a movie or read a book
@OneStopCoopShop3 жыл бұрын
@@thecrabbydice sure, I get your point. But I have loved choose your own adventure stories since I was a kid, and now my kids love them too. I think there's a pretty major difference between a book or movie, where the narrative is set in stone, and a game or experience where you get to influence and decide the way it goes (like in Galzyr). Now, I think a great movie or book will have a BETTER narrative than a CYOA game, since it's a cohesive piece written by an expert. But you can still have a lot of fun making your own way through a narrative :)
