One thing I think I noticed is you were ready to use Furious Strike if Dr. Fright came back with health from the token, but the current phase immediately ends when a token is revealed, so you would have had to wait next round.

Maaaaan, I just got the game with Wolfe Asylum and it has been an absolutely nightmare (pun intended :) ). Terrible rolls all the time, killer heals an insane amount and moves around super quick and kills everything! Thanks for doing this playthrough, nice to know it can be won!

This game is so awesome. I've only played once (Hans + Camp Happy Trails, got obliterated as expected), so seeing how Dr. Fright and the Carnival work was a lot of fun. I really like the Boiler Room mechanic, in part because Dr. Fright is weirdly cute when he pops up in the background. ;) I'm torn between wanting to see more and not wanting to be spoiled on the other content!

One thing that seems neat about this game (and perhaps even _more_ on brand for slasher movies) is that if everything goes unusually well, it represents you being in a comedic / parody horror movie. Mathematical strategy for the Boiler Room (assuming one in each quadrant): 1) Decide on one pair of directions. (Up-down, left-right) The example below shall simulate a left-right choice. 2) Slide card to the right for simulated example. (in practice, decide on whichever suits you, if you're a southpaw like me sliding to the left feels more intuitive) 2a) If the 1st card reveals Dr. Fright, pay attention to where Dr. Fright shows up. Switch direction choice to up-down. If he shows up at the bottom-right quadrant, slide down (down has a 66% chance of missing whereas up has a 33% chance of missing). If he shows up at the top-right quadrant, slide up instead. (same theory) 2b) If the 1st card is a miss, you may assume that the first card hid Dr. Fright somewhere on the left. Slide to the opposite direction. (left has a 66% chance of missing whereas right has a 33% chance of missing) 3ai) If the 2nd card reveals Dr. Fright, all bottom / top Dr. Frights are revealed & that direction becomes safe, allowing you to take a maximum of 2 damage in the boiler room. 3aii) If the 2nd card does not reveal Dr. Fright, continue sliding in the same direction. Dr. Fright is in a 50-50% state at the moment, the 3rd card will reveal whether you take 2 damage or 1 damage. 3bi) If the 2nd slid card has Dr. Fright, that means all remaining cards on the right has Dr. Fright hidden. Simply swipe left from this point on, you'll take 1 damage in total. 3bii) If the 2nd card is still a dodge, slide in the same direction as step 2. Dr. Fright is in a 50-50% state at the moment, the 3rd card will reveal whether you take 1 damage or no damage at all. 4aii) The 3rd card will pinpoint Dr. Fright's position, you will leave the boiler room either with 1 damage taken or 2 damage taken. Nah, not a cheat. Trust me, in this play I would’ve considered cheating the other way to make it more of a challenge. But I use a program to automatically remove silences from the video and my headset’s audio, and that weird cut there was a victim of the program.

You are correct that you can only attack him when you are asleep, but you do NOT have to be in the same location as him. So if you are asleep you can use ranged weapons as normal.

The rules for the red X on page 17 don’t mention it, and later on that same page it says “once the action phase ends, whether by choice or not, you enter the planning phase”. It seems pretty clear that the action phase being forced to end does not in any way skip or invalidate the planning phase.

I'm having trouble playing the game. I could sprint and bring victims to the exit. However I still have movement left over. Can I continuously move with my remaining movement or do I have to halt? Tried looking everywhere for it. The same for collecting victims (can I continuously move and bring victims as I move through spaces)? Or extra movement to move again (from sprint, etc) while I'm searching? The same type of rules. I tried the rule book. Not sure.

Picking up and dropping off victims does not end your movement. So you can sprint, use the first move to bring some victims to an exit, then keep moving. That’s all part of the same movement action. However, you cannot start a new action while still “saving” movement. So for example, I couldn’t sprint 1 space, play a search card, then sprint another space. I have to finish resolving the sprint card before I resolve the search card. Hope that helps!

I’d watch my review video for a fuller discussion of the game, but basically: - the core card and dice mechanic is the same, though the dice are more forgiving in final girl - the addition of movement on the board makes the game feel drastically more exciting and tactical, at least for me, compared to HN’s abstracted take on things - I find Final Girl more dynamic in play, and all cards seem useful every game, whereas in HN I often ignored some completely

I love the puzzle mechanic of each gearloc which is so varied and ranged from easier to use to some being very nuanced. It's also a great solo game. This game being solo is its biggest weakness. This is like one of those "movie" style games, sort of like Dawn of the Zeds or Darkest Night. These games can be played solo, but I enjoy them more with a group. It seems too random for solo play for me.

This won’t work for everyone, but I play this game 2 player too. We take turns “running” the final girl. We discuss options, but the “leader” for the turn makes the final decisions. I’ve been doing this with many solo-only games recently.

@matissmatiss3126 Victorum is solo only. Dice luck is pretty important in all the Hoplo games, though I’d say it’s a bit less than final girl. Remastered has 1-2 player solo/coop, but that’s the weakest way to play the game in my opinion. We have videos and reviews of all of these if you want to check them out

I think my win rate is 60-70% personally, though it depends on the modular combination. But I have a great time with the play regardless. I know some solo players need to lose a game often to have a good time, but that’s not me :)
