How do you think this compares V sabotage? which one do you prefer of the two?

I've never been a huge fan of the way V Sabotage does stealth, so I prefer this one, Earth Under Siege, Burncycle, and even Triton Noir's new one that got canceled (God's Heist) over V Sabotage.

@@OneStopCoopShop good to know! I only have V Sabotage out of that and just found it “ok” even though conceptually it seemed right up my alley.

I think the two big differences are that V-sabotage boards are going to be more abstract and it makes no difference between what tile in a category you use. The tiles are all flavor art. In SAS every board tile is different and unique. Additionally, in the sabotage, there is a rogue, like element where you are searching rooms for better gear. You don’t really have that in SAS. Your player has a loadout and they pretty much stick to that for the entire game. You can swap/flip your hero card to pick a different loadout, but that is what you have assigned for the mission. There is no searching for better gear in SAS.

Thanks for the review Mike. I am a fan of the old Commandos video games but the small number of missions and the very random guard turnarounds is not something that I am a fan of. Looking at the components I was expecting a lower price point, and it looks like this game benefits a lot from expansions sadly.

There are ways to almost entirely negate all of the random elements through strategic play (random patrol turns can be countered by marking targets or just not standing in a place it can cause an issue, aiming and cover negates or removes much of the dice luck and other elements such as rabbits foot remove dice rolls) Also there are a tonne (30 ish I believe) of missions which can be played with only base game components on the word forge games website downloads section.

You can count the event cards if you like. But the randomness of the guard is part of the tension and theme, I'd say. You have to play with these possibilities of a turning guard in mind. The whole strategy is based on that. Plus it's not that random since one turn the black guard will patrol then the white. But they might have rotate.
