Ah, Onew!! Now don't come for me, while this song is not my cup of tea, (just not one I would go out of my way to put on), I am not deaf to his brilliance, his voice. If you want recommendations, with Onew it would have to be "Blue", "Rainy Blue" and "Dice" (Dice is just pure pop. adorable). Of course his live version of "Selene 6.23 on Sea of Hope (a duet with Sunwoo Junga has to be seen to be believed. Your heart will break). Their live version of "Tell Me What To Do" on Jonghyun's radio show, where they goofing around but still singing perfectly is a must. Always a pleasure hearing your take on these songs and a joy to watch your reactions.

I get you. I love this song but I loved the Dice album more. Despite being my bias, Onew, like Chen has a lot of beautiful ballads that I can only listen to occasionally. Key on the other hand, I probably listen to everyday. Yes, yes, yes to all of your song recommendations!

This song AND album is an absolute MASTERPIECE…and I don’t say that lightly. There isn’t a single skippable song. Usually, I’ll shuffle an album, but this is so perfectly put together and cohesive that I literally just play it on an endless loop practically 24/7. Asleep, at work, whilst driving…the only times I really pause is when I check out reactions and watch the MV. The concert was spectacular, as well. I wish I could own it on DVD so I could watch it whenever, but I’m happy I at least bought the re-stream so I’ll get another chance. You should definitely check out the live performances-the choreography is phenomenal…so, so beautiful. Back to this song, though…it feels and sounds GRAND. The sound is full-to-bursting in the best possible way and Jinki’s vocal acrobatics and layering are pristine, ethereal, immaculate, and truly unmatched. The backing choir adds to the grandeur and I can just picture an orchestra and full choir backing him in a venerated hall with a packed house sitting in absolute rapture…the living silence beating like a heartbeat several measures after the last note fades before the entire audience explodes into applause and accolades. The song truly feels, for lack of a better explanation, just that grand. All this without once mentioning the LYRICS! Good gracious, they’re literal poetry. Words to live by…words we all need to hear… On those waves, we drift together Different faces Differently shaped hearts Not lacking nor sufficient They are beautiful as they are Below the same sun Casting differеnt shadows We are, we arе We’re all different, but all the same. We may look differently, believe differently, love differently, etc, but we’re all one. We laugh, love, cry, bleed, grieve, rejoice…but we tend to overlook those similarities and instead fear our differences. We should instead celebrate those differences! Could you imagine if every single flower was instead a red rose? No other flower existed. What would make it special? What value would it have? Yes, it’s pretty…it smells sweet…but to never experience the fields of brightly colored tulips, the sweet fragrance of honeysuckle, the splash of red poinsettias in winter… How sad would that be? The same can be said for people. There’s so much beauty in differences. Gah…I’ve gone off on a tangent and, though I’ve considered deleting it, I’ll instead leave it here. Kudos if you’ve stuck around and read it in its entirety. lol

I completely agree with you about this song and this album, I also like what you said about the value of difference in this world. I don't know why but it makes me want to recommend you another song with similar lyrics (deep lyrics about the proud we should all feel about being different) by a wonderful chinese singer Hua Chenyu. By the way, it is really worth to discover him, he has a great voice and sings with his heart. He conveys a lot of emotions and attaches a lot of importance to the lyrics, the message in his songs. He is a composer, music is his passion, he makes me think a lot about Jonghyun, I see many similarities between them : the same passion, the same talent, the same sensibility, the same interest in others, etc. (he also fights against depression and tries to break the silence around this issue). Check the lyrics, you won't regret. It is one of my favorite song (for information, he is not the original singer). @@Killdeer25 Maybe you could add Hua Chenyu to your reactions? He has all kind of songs, the more you listen, the more you like. If you need more suggestions, I can give you some. He is one of the more popular chinese singer of his generation (if not the most). It is not exagerated to say he is a genius, as Jonghyun was.

I started with EXO. However, I do feel like when I first heard Shinee doing the Sherlock songs was when I was kinda really blown away by talent, not that EXO wasn't talented just Shinee spoke In a bit of a different way

He ain't my bias for nothing that's for sure. I think this song transcends the label of kpop, like you said, the struggle of accepting the passage of time and the cycles of life are universal. I appreciated the line about being sad when everyone else seemed happy but the next line was the realization that in the times when you are happy there are also people who are feeling alone. And what resonated the most for me was the idea that the beauty of the cycles of life is that even when you are caught up in your sad time or your daily grind, there are still sunrises and seasons and life going on all around you. We are equally the centre of the universe and insignificant in the universe. More Shinee please! Once again, because I am watching Shinee, Shinee is my favorite. I might have to truly concede one of these days that I love them more than EXO. But let's wait for the comebacks before I make up my mind! 😉Taemin discharge in 5 days!!!! 🥳🎉

@@sandman3384 Right?! I feel like I spend time listening to Shinee solo albums more than anythings else. I love Key so much, Taemin is a legend, Jognhyun is a genius, Onew's voice sends me and Minho's Heartbreak might be my favorite song of all time. And that's not even their music as Shinee! It has to be Shinee right? And yet, every time I go back to EXO, I'm like oh yeah, this is why I get out of bed everyday and why I started loving music again and how I fell in love with an entire culture I barely knew about before and why I haven't watched anything in English for the last 2 yrs! Of course it's EXO. I bought tickets to stream their EXOclock fan meeting. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas morning and I'm 45 yrs old!

@kristenblack6026 Girl I have eight years on you haha and have been locked into this Korean vortex since 2012 (coincidentally EXO'S debut year,) . I work in a crèche and the sign up in my room is Kpop only ha ,the kids are going crazy for Rover at the mo but Mango, Honey and of course Lightsaber are the perennial favs (I'm known as 'Suho's Future Wife'.... bless them they think I'm 19.....kids are brilliant haha) For me I had gotten into EXO's music first and it was Shinee's variety stuff that I met first before their music.. Hello Baby, have you seen? Lord have mercy. But it was Super Junior and Big Bang first that had me. Onew's album Dice is just lovely and that whole series Sea of Hope, sweet golly have you ever. Every song on it is perfection and his interaction with Lee Dong Wook (who is the real reason I am stuck here as I started out with Korean movies), is adorable. Adorable is the word I use most with Onew. Never mentioned "I Wanna Marry You" , "Dear Name" and "Odd Eye" ooops Aaron you have a ways to go haha

@@sandman3384 Ah yes Lee Dong Wook is a favorite. 😊 I also started with EXO and through SuperM was familiar with Taemin. But what made me Shawol is the 2021 SM new years online concert. In the lead up to the concert, they had a quiz where all the SM artists were quizzed about SM trivia. Onew walked on the set and smiled and I was his fan for life. And then he proceeded to get all the questions wrong! 😂 Then Key and Minho each did the quiz and Key aced it, Minho poking his insanely competitive head from off camera to see how Key did and if they were in first place, the two of them roasting/commiserating Onew’s dragging the team down. Omg I don’t know if I’d even heard any of their songs yet or even knew about Jonghyun, but I was Shawol to the core in that moment!

In one of Onew's behind the scenes videos he explained his "O (Circle)" MV is depicting the different stages of a person's heart. The "Children's Park" -- or, as I like to think of it, the set of a children's TV show -- is supposed to represent the happy, playful child's heart. The peach tent area that we see him sitting in is supposed to represent the inside of a whale's stomach, depicting the story of his previous B-side song "In The Whale," which is a song he wrote for fans and is on his previous Dice album. And the dark grey set is supposed to be a mature adult's heart, depicting what a person has to go through in order to reach adulthood, etc.
