Thank you for the explanation of the Oneway Anova. This is a great help for the analysis of my data set!! I also have another question. I want to determine the level of agreement between two groups of experts. Both groups have evaluated the importance 38 factors independently from each other. Now I want to determine to what extent group A agrees on the evaluation scores in comparison to group B. I tried to run the intraclass correlation test, but I get these negative numbers for some reason.

Hi, I conducted two surveys which measured brand loyalty before and after an event. I now want to compare the two results to see if there was an increase in brand loyalty from pre to post. Im aware that an ANOVA would be the best way to do it, but I am having some problems with the factor. I know my dependent variables are the brand loyalty scores, but should my factor be whether the score was pre or post? If so how do i create this categorical variable? Any help would be much appreciated!

I have watch your video and other videos on t test, and i am still some what confused with the below practice exercise. Sex = I and Income= D Do I need to another DEPENDENT Variable o State the statistical assumptions for this test. o Using the data set you have selected, select independent, and dependent variables. o Develop the null and the alternative hypothesis. o Use the SPSS to calculate an independent-samples t test. o Report on the p value and the confidence interval. o Interpret the confidence interval. o Decide whether to reject or retain the null hypothesis. o Generate syntax and output files in SPSS. You will need to copy and paste these into your Application document. o Based on your SPSS analysis, report the results using correct APA format. Your report should include the following:

+Dean visitor No, you only need one independent variable and one dependent variable. In this case, the independent variable was job category and the dependent variable was current salary.

Here's an expanded summary of the video on performing a one-way ANOVA in SPSS, including more detailed insights: Introduction to One-Way ANOVA: The video begins with an introduction to one-way ANOVA, emphasizing its use in comparing means between groups. This analysis helps determine if there are significant differences among group averages. Types of ANOVA Explained: The presenter differentiates between a one-way between-groups ANOVA and a within-subjects ANOVA, clarifying that the focus is on the former, which is simpler and more commonly used in research involving different groups. Understanding Data Requirements: For one-way ANOVA, the video explains the need for a continuous dependent variable (in this case, salary) and a categorical independent variable (job category). These are foundational for the analysis. Setting Up Data in SPSS: The tutorial includes detailed steps on how to access and set up the necessary data within SPSS. The presenter uses example data available within SPSS, which viewers can also access to follow along and practice. Configuring the ANOVA Test: The steps to perform the ANOVA test in SPSS are demonstrated. This includes selecting the dependent variable (salary) and the independent variable (job category), and configuring the analysis options like tests for homogeneity of variance and the plotting of means. Statistical Hypotheses: The hypothesis tested is whether there are significant differences in salaries across three job categories: clerical, custodial, and managerial. The expectation is that managerial staff would earn more than clerical and custodial. Exploring SPSS Menus and Options: The video provides a walkthrough of navigating the SPSS interface, focusing on how to enter variables into the analysis module and select appropriate statistical tests and options. Initial Results and Descriptive Statistics: Initial outputs from SPSS, including mean salaries and standard deviations for each job category, are shown. These help provide a preliminary understanding of the data before delving into deeper analysis. Discussion on Fixed and Random Effects: A brief discussion on fixed versus random effects in ANOVA is included, explaining that most analyses assume fixed effects. The presenter plans to elaborate on this topic in future videos. Plans for Further Analysis: The presenter mentions that post-hoc tests, which are crucial for identifying specific group differences after finding a significant F-statistic, will be covered in a subsequent video. Closing Remarks: The video ends with a reminder of the utility of ANOVA in statistical analysis and encourages viewers to experiment with the example data in SPSS to enhance their understanding of one-way ANOVA. This expanded summary provides a comprehensive overview of the tutorial, including both the procedural aspects of conducting an ANOVA in SPSS and the conceptual understanding necessary to interpret the results effectively.

NON-PARAMETRIC TEST - CHI-SQUARE What type of data is used in a chi-square test? Categorical data (nominal and ordinal) - the data has been counted and divided into categories. + It can be used on actual numbers, not on percentages, proportions or means. + It compares the tallies or counts of categorical responses between 2 or more independent groups + It tests how well the observed distribution of data fits with the distribution that is expected if the variables are independent. Characteristics of the Chi-Square Distribution * The major characteristics of the chi-square distribution are: - It is positively skewed - It is non-negative - It is based on degrees of freedom - When the degrees of freedom change a new distribution is created * A special class of hypothesis tests * Used when assumptions for parametric tests are not met - Review:What are the assumptions for parametric tests? Assumptions for Parametric Tests * Dependent variable is a scale variable 🡺 interval or ratio - If the dependent variable is ordinal or nominal, it is a - non-parametric test * Participants are randomly selected - If there is no randomization, it is a non-parametric test * The underlying population distribution is normal - If the shape is not normal, it is a non-parametric test When to Use Nonparametric Tests * When the dependent variable is nominal - What are ordinal, nominal, interval, and ratio scales of measurement? * Used when either the dependent or independent variable is ordinal * Used when the sample size is small * Used when underlying population is not normal Limitations of Nonparametric Tests * Cannot easily use confidence intervals or effect sizes * Have less statistical power than parametric tests * Nominal and ordinal data provide less information * More likely to commit type II error - Review: What is type I error? Type II error? Assumptions for Chi-Square Tests * data in the cells should be frequencies, or counts of cases levels (or categories) of the variables are mutually exclusive. each subject may contribute data to one and only one cell in the χ2. study groups must be independent. there are 2 variables, and both are measured as categories (nominal or ordinal level or interval or ratio data that have been collapsed into ordinal categories). Note: A very large number of cells (over 20) can make it difficult to meet assumption below, and to interpret the meaning of the results. value of the cell expecteds should be 5 or more in at least 80% of the cells, and no cell should have an expected of less than one. This assumption is most likely to be met if the sample size equals at least the number of cells multiplied by 5.

Comments like this are unnecessary. You did not pay anything to watch this video. Don't like it? Move on. What you mention is hardly a major detriment to the point of the video, moreso just being critical on a personal level. Remember there are people behind anything made in this world. Are you one of those people whose sole purpose in life is to add negativity to the world? If so, please know so many of us try to avoid you each and every day. Next time I'd suggest you take a moment to think about how valuable your comment is, then keep it to yourself.
