I lost all my friends when I went more deaf. But my boyfriend stood by me. People did think he would leave me but I married him I'm old now and he died last I have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren of very different ages and they all hear perfectly

AM DEAF HARD TO FIND A FRIEND , SO AM IN MY SILENT WORLD. I DO LOTS OF READING ,CRAPS, CARD MAKING ,SEWING ANY THING TO MAKE ME HAPPY. LOVES MUSIC FEELS THE VIBRATION, REALLY NICE.

If y are suitable for cochlear implant have one. I lost all my friends when I went deaf in my twenties I had hearing aid and by some miracle I had treatment and got almost full hearing back in one ear so packed up by hearing aid but then got infection in good ear. Had wrong treatment so needed hearing aid again then my ear deteriorated to almost nothing and a got an implant. Now have had upgrade but a long way to go. Cochlear implants improve all the time

Deaf comminities are amazing and so beautiful to sign and communicate with your entire body I mean, why aren't there more bridges between the hearing and the deaf ? I know by fact that a lot of my friends find deaf people stupid or "yuck they're deaf why do u bother hanging out with them?!" Etc I just don't get it, so much judgment and it sucks. I mean, deaf community constantly try to teach hearing that they exist and they deserve to be treated just like everyone else. But hearing people just turn their heads away, they would just switch the channel if there was a documentary about it, or a tv show with deaf people signing. No wonder deaf community is so isolated. They know that they will be rejected 99% of the time Sucks :(

Well why don't they have a cochlear implant what's wrong with hearing something thry are pretty good in 2023 implants utibe said some people from the death communities abuse people from their community who has had an implant and I read a very recent post that said a y mother's letting their child have a implant is shameful I would say the reverse is true

Iisa I've just had upgrade cochlear implant still.being adjusted The audiologist told me that the desf community are now having implants about time What's wrong with hearing something. John Bishop the comedian has got a deaf son and he's against cochlear implants as it shoulnt be fixed. We'll I'm.all for Co hear i.plants as I said before what's wrong with hearing g something I'm.pleased the deaf community are now changing their minds sbout implants

Sign language should be taught i schiol starting in kindergarten! Especially in English speaking countries that tend to not teach any foreign languages . Just teach kids ASL! It's a great idea for babies too, they csn learn to successfully communicate at 6-12mos!

Well, ASL is only used in America and Canada; pretty much every country has a different sign language, so it wouldn't be ASL for all of them, but anyway I agree! :) ~:~

True I got abuse when hardly any hearing one day someone who knew me slightly run up to me and shouted in my ear I have a cochlear implant I'm on my second had big problems with the operation they coulnt fit the one I was supposed to have and I had to have a different make but I think its going to be OK I must say I don't understand why the deaf community are so against Them my grandsons ex partner was a sign teacher and tried to put me off having an upgrade saying she knows people who have failed upgrades please listen to me why is noone listening to me. She also told my grandson if we ever had a baby and itcwas deaf woulnt let it have implant. His opinion didn't count anyway they split up he's choice I personally think implants are good. In time with this implant I maybe will be able to hear phone Nd tv without subtitles but that's some way away. I hVe only just gone for my first switch on because of me having so many complications theyvwere worried if it had worked but it has long way to go yet. I Hope I haven't put anyone off I was unlucky but it ended OK the actual failure rate is 0.2 in 2023

Baby’s can actually sign really early on. 6/7 months is pretty common.
