WELCOME everyone to my 6th flight in 2018. On 17th January, I flew Cathay Dragon (former Dragonair) from Naha, Okinawa (OKA) to Hong Kong (HKG) on their refurbished Airbus A320-200. My seat was 30A, an emergency exit seat, was available for USD50 or HKD390, though I reserved it for free due to my Oneworld sapphire status.
Cathay Pacific Group’s major rival- Hong Kong Airlines flies 2-3 times daily between HKG and OKA, whereas Cathay Dragon only flies 3 times a week with a mixture of their Airbus fleet: A320-200, A321-200, A330-300.
Some travellers flying between the cities may choose to have a stop at Taipei due to competitive prices offered by China Airlines and EVA Air.

This is the first trip report lve seen on this Airline and this route. I was heavily invested in that rice making its way home. The souvenirs the FA gave you a nice touch, swift and substantial meal service and an exit row all to yourself how could anyone find fault with this trip👍

HAHAHA i was inspired by an Aussie bloke checking in a can of coke. I showed that video to my mum and joked about us doing it. She was like WHY NOT😂😂 Gotta use up that baggage allowance! And in HK, we love Japanese rice haha! That FA and I now follow each other and unfortunately when Cathay Dragon folded last year, he lost his job and have moved back to Japan (he was based in HK doing Japanese flights)🥲🥲

The Japanese are really top notch when it comes to service. I am really impressed by KA OKA's ground staff for wrapping up your packet of rice so nicely in order for it to be scanned and loaded as a checked baggage! 😃👏👍

Very nicely Narrated, i really need to try doing some narration myself but i never know where to start and what to say. I guess i need to put the main things i need to say on a notepad and then put it together rather than me trying to just start speaking and trying to say things on the spot. if you are going to Okinawa, you better choose a window seat, and hoping there are not raining there during the flight. the view surround Naha airport is amazing. i really hope to fly Cathay in future. their service are in top notch. i remember the last time i flew Fukuoka to KL and took the transit in Teipei , just to experience three times flights departures and landings. btw, nice reports as always. hope to see new reports soon.

So short flight (just only 2.5 hours), it is normal to use airbus A320 such a little aircraft.

Thank-you Jayden for sharing a most wonderful flight review with us. I just finished watching your high resolution video in full screen mode which made my experience so much more enjoyable. For someone whose 3rd language is English, you have a remarkable command of it, and I think you speak it much better than a lot of Americans I know. I also hope it was worth the effort to bring home so much Japanese rice. However, I do not find that strange at all. When I used to fly to Germany on an annual basis, I would use extra-large suitcases and fill them with various foods and other items to bring back home to the US. Something in general I have noticed in your videos and those of others is how well maintained the facilities are at Chinese, Japanese, and Korean airports and in their aircraft. Additionally, all the service personnel are immaculately groomed and pleasant looking. In your opinion, do you also find this to be true, or do you think I am generalizing too much? I also found it interesting that the commercial air carriers based in Hong Kong put the “Swire Group” logo on the sides of their aircraft rather than the Hong Kong or Chinese flags. Thank-you again for a most enjoyable video. I am looking forward to viewing your next post.

As I study in Australia and miss Hong Kong food all the time, I always have one large suitcase for food only. When I arrive at custom in Australia, the officers always want to steal some from me haha Japanese airports are very well maintained, so is everything else related to Japan. Newer airports in China and Korea are also very good, but maybe not their older ones. I think Cathay would refuse to put China or Hong Kong flag on their airplanes as Swire group (from the UK) owns them. Cathay and Hong Kong Airlines both put 'Hong Kong, Asia's World City' logo on their planes.

I’m travelling on CX LHR-HKG B777-300ER in economy and would like to ask which is the best seat? I can reserve emergency extra-legroom seats for free.

You can don’t mind sacrificing under-seat storage for legroom, go for those emergency exit seats! If you’re a window lover, go for bulkhead and my personal favourite- the back row of any cabin. I feel more private at the back because people can’t peek from the back :) Thanks for watching and have a great flight!

One World Flyer thanks. Storage isn’t a problem, but all the emergency extra legroom all seem to be either by the toilets or by the galley, which I’m guess could be noisy as sleeping could be an issue. Normally these seats cost £65 each way but as a Oneword Sapphire the cost is wavered.

Great video as always! I took this exact plane from Siem Reap to HK on 2 June. I was in business, first row 10C 😉 Wonderful crew on board. For some reason, I was given by the ISM a bag of alcohol wipes and face masks on arrival into Siem Reap, saying that they may come into use! So caring! Great that you had a row to yourself. Was it because you were Sapphire and they blocked them for you? The business class seats were comfy, but, on full recline with leg rest up, my big feet would hit the bulkhead and could not have them straight. Seats in the rows behind did not have this problem. Your meal looks nice. Ours was only so-so, maybe my expectation for business class was higher. Anyway, the lovely champagne saved the day 😉 I fully understand why your mum brought back the rice....simply because Japanese rice is truly delish! And cheaper there too than in HK. I find I enjoy KA more than CX. Even their magazine is a better read and their duty free seemed to have more interesting variety. And their staff more engaging 😄

Oh wow my mum was in business class on that flight, 11k! That crew who gave you the wipes and masks must be some of the best ISMs in the world! I guess I got the whole row because HKG-OKA route doesn't have many elite frequent flyers when compared to HKG-Tokyo. And most people would not pay extra to seat there. Yep, we enjoyed all our dinner the following week after the flight 😂 Thanks Wayne!

Is such a nice offer that they give you exit row seats according to your status, I mean member status since you belong to QF FFP. My mom just had a journey with AC, economy from YVR-PEK, she’s CA Gold, which is equivalent to AC gold. Nothing offered at all! AC charge 130 CAD for first row Economy... No discount or any complimentary offers to premium Economy.... STAR ALLIANCE needs to improve a lot

One World Flyer other than priority boarding and Mediocre lounge access, there is no special treatment within Star Alliance System at all!! One more to note, last time my mom boarded UA business class from YVR-SFO, short haul International route but UA considers it as DOMESTIC.... At checkin around 6 AM, the checkin manager was extremely rude! I showed her UA policy that all star alliance gold members can bring additional 10KG baggage... She says,” I don’t care, I am not aware of that policy...” Seriously though, I’m choosing airlines according to quality, not member alliances.
