For anyone who wants to know, the themes present are based off the short story by Robert Chambers, "The King in Yellow" with certain lines of the game being either lifted from (Don't know if they're exactly from the book, but eh) or inspired by the story. The Yellow Sign and mentioning of the abstruse city of Carcosa being dead give aways. Highly recommend it as a read to anyone with an interest in classic horror!

The King in Yellow is not a short story. It is the name of an anthology of stories as well as the name of a fictional play which links the horror stories in that collection together. The Repairer of Reputations and The Yellow Sign are probably the best horror stories there but I actually do have a soft spot for Chambers' romance stories as well. "The Street of Our Lady of the Fields" was my unexpected favorite in the collection.
