Question for you guys...did you really use peanut butter to make peanut sauce...did you guys not cook the peanut and blend it?...because it almost triggers me 😅
@whtvrbro6081 Жыл бұрын
@@shadowhide317 Uh, not really, it's not wrong to use peanut sauce, but it isn't right either. Usually, first we fry the peanuts, garlics, cayenne pepper, and candlenut for a little while. Then grind/mix peanut, brown sugar, onion, and candlenut using blender or cobek. Add fried onion for extra taste if u want. Add sweet soy sauce, sugar, and salt. Then add hot water (or oil like Giri's, it's a matter of preference) and adjust the thickness. Peanut butter is... idk, it doesn't feel right. And I've never made one using it so idk does it taste the same or not. Though there are 'instant peanut sauce' in sachets. You only need to add boiling water if you are using these. Note that different recipes have different details/ingredients, some different areas/regions (prob even different households) have their own version of peanut sauce. You may find some recipes using coriander, others using candlenut, and other recipes using orange leaves, etc. Although the main ingredient, peanut, will be the same.

Most SEA cultures would take fresh peanuts and cook them and grind them hot as part of the cooking process. Peanut butter cuts out those steps, kind of like using pre-ground cumin powder instead of sauteeing and grinding the seeds fresh. Just try to get a peanut butter with low sugar and no artificial sweeteners, since some brands can go a bit heavy on the sweetness and that makes a strange sauce.
