Before Sekiro and Nioh, there was Onimusha. Truly an inspiration for both games Edit: I realized that both games are heavily inspired by their predecessors, namely ninja Gaiden and Tenchu. However, my statement is still partially correct. Because Nioh is thematically similar with Onimusha (Samurai vs Demons) and Sekiro borrows a gameplay mechanic from that game too, that is sword deflection (which the latter has smaller parry-window than the former)

In 2005 no-internet and no buddhist Cuba i always wondered what this big stone head was 46:00 , i was obsessed with it and found it throughout the game multiple times and i used to stare at this one all the time... now i know its the Buddha and practicing buddhism finding it again its such a beautiful feeling. I remember having a lot of fun playing the first three games in my youth, good times! 👍 It’s less stingy with health and ammo, as it uses swords and other CQC weapons and absorb enemy orbs for health and power up. Making it less scary than RE series

Probably the best PS2 trailer I have ever seen. This game was my favourite of the Onimusha series. The story was a bit far fetched but still enjoyed it. The first game was my favourite story line wise as it was very Japanese and more dark in nature. The trailer was well thought through to display Samanosuke's weapons and the critical hit at the end and when he says "ugh" as if mocking Garaganto is brilliant. I remember playing this game and perfecting my criticals to earn the Black Vest. I did not like the last Onimusha release as by then it was too tacky and repetitive.

I remember this game cover but never got a chance to play it, my high school friend had it when i was over his house but never played, and I'm watching it and it is SOOO vicious, the gameplay, story, cutscenes and acting. Even Hyrule Warriors Zelda game got this gameplay from this game like how the Japanese samurai's come after you and kill them, same thing for HW Zelda game for Wii u or i think Nintendo switch.

I remember trying to play this when I was a teen, but getting stuck trying to open the Cathedral's door. I knew I had to go back into the sewer for something, but could never find it, and having to deal with the respawning monsters in there kept frustrating me, so I quit after a while. So thank you do posting this, since I was interested in the story, but couldn't bring myself to metaphorically keep bashing my head against the brick wall, er giant wooden cathedral door. Though now that I say that, I'm reminded of Monty Python and the chanting monks.

I loved Onjmusha Samurai's Destiny (released 2002). It was bought for me by someone who didn't know I only played Tomb Raider, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy but it was a great gift. I loved all the things you could find and had to figure out who the best person was to give it to. It also had heaps of fantastic puzzles. I believe Demon Siege was released in 2004. I wasn't aware there were more games. Perhaps I could pick them up on Ebay if they were all PlayStation games? Are the others as good as Samurai's Destiny? Loved Jean Reno in Godzilla movie. It seems they don't call Samanosuke, (Jubei) anymore.
