It's not something to be cynical about. Sure, there are forces always working to undermine people's freedom in these countries, but that doesn't make them anywhere near as bad as a totalitarian nightmare like North Korea where you are literally forced to worship the leader upon pain of death.

But that is irrelevant to what kind of society we have because all societies are equally devoid of free will if free will does not exist. The most logical measure of freedom, if the word is to have any meaning, is the ability to do what you want to do, and certain types of governments and societies clearly do a better job of making this possible than others.

Actually the true story of Kim Jong Un's rise to power is much simpler: every year since the age of three, Un has won North Korea's daily cheeseburger eating contest. This is for two reasons. Firstly, he's accustomed to cramming at least 20 cheeseburgers down his throat at every meal, hence his attractive morbidly obese body. Secondly, he's the only person in North Korea to eat cheeseburgers - they're exclusively reserved for him alone, and everyone else gets to eat grass mixed with mud. As a side note, his comic hair style is the result of seeing a DIlbert cartoon and thinking the pointy-haired brainless boss was a portrait of Albert Einstein and therefore "smart" people should have pointy-haired boss haircuts.

Although he knows this is supposed to be satire, he doesn’t consider it to actually be satire, because, in his mind, what it says is true. For some strange reason, he seems to think that since Fox is fake sometimes, and CNN is fake, pretty much always, the Onion has to be real. The fact that there are people like him, who think this is an accurate depiction of today’s society, is what makes the video so perfect.
