You did a great job planting all these plots with Onions. FYI, and a piece of advice for future planting, onion seedlings are not transplanted too deep in the soil. During planting, let only the roots get into the soil and let the part suppose to form bulbs just be at the soil level. Such planting will allow the bulbs to grow freely and be bigger with no resistance/impedance from the soil bulk. In that case you don't have to dig the onions out during harvesting.I hope this information helps. You can contact me for more information on planting onions. Thank you.

Thanks. We shall keep your advice in mind next time we transplant. Farming is full of vague terms like: "not too deep and not too shallow" Huh??😒 Also, we have learnt that the outside neighborhood ladies we were engaging for transplanting work came in different levels of skill and attention. Some just wanted to finish quickly and get paid. Others take more time and care. So, since we can remember who transplanted which beds or which area of the field, we are being much more selective on who gets chosen to come back again. But thanks for getting in touch.

@@mondofarms4343 Honestly, we experinced the same in terms of transplanting. The labour we hired for transplantint, since they are paid per bed planted, eishhh even though we really insisted on shallow planting, them they dont care they just want to finish the highest numbe of beds possible. in the end they just plant as long as its in the ground they dont care.

Nice one Sir can I plant onions now in August?
@mondofarms4343

Onions can be grown throughout the year. But results and challenges vary depending on the variety and time of year. It is best to consult with an expert. Many of the seed companies have them. For example, there is a gentleman from Zamseed featured in our video about visiting the Agric Show, who really knows his stuff. I am sure you can find him.

What is the best mouth to transplanting onion
@mondofarms4343
@mondofarms4343 11 ай бұрын
It really depends on several factors. For example, which country you are in and what is the seasonal pattern. Here in Zambia, onion is generally planted as the rain season comes to an end (Feb-Apr). Onion is a complex crop.
