Another session, another video! This was a recent Onk session with Kyle when the bream run occured. Schools of spawning bream made their way upstream and we managed to pull a few good ones!

It's good to see the Fish Whisperer in action, never lets you down, always presents great vids. You need to get yourself a telescopic landing net.

Its very good video, could you tell me what rod did use?
@user-je1li9zz9f5 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, I'm a new fisherman from Adelaide. Could you please tell me what rod was your friend using in the video? It looks light and nice, was it a 662?? And where exactly should I go if I'm after breams? I live in West Beach, I went to west lakes inshore a few times, I only caught one small bream... Been using size 6 hook with running sinker, cockles as bait. Have I been doing it wrong? After watching this video I will go BCF to buy the same lure and jig, where exactly should I go in West lakes or onk river?

Hi Alex, first of all, great video as usual. Is there any video where you show how to retrieve these soft plastics? (I remember one you made at the Pat where you wanted to show it but a bream got it before it sunk...). Also, is 0.18 (3kg) mono thin enough for the lures to swim nicely? Cheers mate
@Alexsfishin7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ramon, one of my recent uploads (3 Trip Adelaide Local Breaming) shows a couple of my favourite retrieves. Hope it helps! That mono would be perfect, but I'd recommend using braided line for lures. You'll notice a bigger and better difference! :)

Nice video Alex! Have you ever used rock crabs to catch bream? Which do you think is better rock crabs, prawns, or the zman lure?
@Alexsfishin7 жыл бұрын
Cheers Ahmad! Yes I have, rock crabs would have to be the best bait for them! If you're using lures, then Zman grubz would be the go.

Hi Guys, I really enjoy your videos but could you please go in to a little detail about what rig you're running? Line weight, leader, type of rod, type of hook and bait/lure. Also, what type of tide you're on: rising/falling? I'm only a beginner and get really excited when I see these videos but am left feeling frustrated as I don't have a clue how to join in the fun! Thanks for your vids though!

Hi Mike, I really appreciate the productive feedback and I would love to help you out on getting into it! I'll keep those points in mind when making my videos. In the video, we used 3lb fluroucarbon leader. It's importaint to use fluroucarbon for bream becasue they are a cunning species. Although 3lb might be a bit light to start with, so I'd recommend 6lb. Ask your local tackle shops about bream combos, they'll put you onto the right gear! I was using Zman 2.5: Grubz in motor oil colour, matched with a 1/16th size jighead. I'm not too sure about the tides for this specific system, but we were getting them all day long. The best time of year to fish it would be around August to November. Hope you get onto a few! Tight lines. Alex.

To be honest with you, I'd prefer summer. Just for the thrill of surface fishing and sight casting, but winter can hold some good schools of big fish. In summer you'd have to dig through the smaller fish to get to the bigger fish, unless you're lucky enough to find a very hungry one.

Hi Alex, which area do u prefer for lure fishing for bream? Onkaparinga or Westlake?
@Alexsfishin7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, to be honest, it really depends on the time of year. West Lakes is always a decent spot but the Onkaparinga River has the whole river to fish. At this time around, I'd go with the Onk. But West Lakes is only starting to fire up!
