What's the main difference between the RZ70 and the RZ50?🤔

@@sundaydickson RZ70 is 11 channel while RZ50 is 9 channel but can process 11 channels with an external amp. The RZ70 also has Auro3D and slightly more powerful (140w per channel vs 120 on RZ50) I personally don't care for Auro3D and I think the RZ50 is way better value at about half the cost

@av_rob79 Thanks, I wanted to know why I should pay twice that amount. Those differences (if that's just it) do not justify that amount for leaving the RZ50 for the 70 with my current situation, the RZ50 would do just fine. Thanks again 🙏🏽

I have the onkyo rz 50 that receiver sound quality is greatness 👌🏾 I'm going to upgrade speakers but this amp rz70 u gotta throw the best at this amp like Miller & kresiel thx speakers & dirac calibration for the subs ooooooooohhh boi !!!!

How big a deal does the upgraded Dirac make? I plan on having a 5.2.2 (ceiling atmos) setup with x2 SVS subs. I don't know if I can see the justification for spending an extra $500 just for my one extra sub. Does it make THAT much difference? I will have all MK speakers, x3 IW950 LCR, x2 M40T rear sides, and x2 IC95 ceiling speakers. Any particular advice on this setup? Thanks.

It will align the phase of the subwoofers better with the main speakers. You can also do this by ear using the delay function for the subs. We typically see people go with it when they have more than 2 subwoofers though. Hope this helps.

That Klipsch integration is really cool, but makes me curious why in today's AI/ML-loving world we don't have more open and sophisticated calibration tools for both speaker tuning and room correction. Seems like a no-brainer to have a metadata standard for speaker makes/models and even room sizes, materials, etc. We probably need a few more of these vendor-exclusive integrations before consumers get fed up with the proprietary nature of it, then in a decade maybe? I feel like we're on the cusp of democratizing very powerful calibration tools...

That would be interesting. Devialet has something like that but they are the only one. Dirac does work really well

We do! It’s just too expensive to use an AI model. Most neural nets end up using GPU/TPU thus increasing manufacturing cost, and Power consumption. But it can be done, I have done it for some specific devices using AWS cloud.

the single line display is a deal breaker for me--- i like to see source input plus sound dsp being used--- its a huge oversight for onkyo--- its the same as integra--- you pay top dollar and get half a display

I just bought the rz70 and can you tell me why when turning on center spread under Dolby setting increases the bass from the subwoofer with 10 times more bass? I'd like to have that bass from the sub with center spread off but can't find a way to do it.

The "made for Klipsch part" will set the crossover frequencies where they normally work best with a particular Klipsch speaker. However, you should let Dirac do its work and analyze the room for best results. Thanks for watching

I own 2 txnr 646 and an nr509. Both had great sound and functions. Both. Failed from hdmi boards and power on fault. I received no support. From onkyo due to outdated guarantee. No more onkyo. Now I had to live with a mediocre 2 channel soundbar until I afford to buy an other Atmos receiver

I was disappointed with this model the Onkyo RZ70 which broke down after 2 months of normal use still under warranty I got a refund I replaced it with the DENON AVC-X8500HA

While Audyssey was a great sound field enhancer in it's day (10 years ago), Dirac completely DESTROYS Audyssey. I like Audyssey but it's quite outdated at this point.

And you know this for a fact ? Or just guessing numbers here - globe is huge ! I have 9.1 (2 atmos speakers). I would say 99% is a little too high but agree a reciever like this is meant for the dedicated users. Most could settle with the tx 50 version. Also dirac but fewer channels.
