Onkyo receiver will not start

Greetings from the Philippines! I have an Onkyo TX NR737 that exhibits the exact same problem. Your video is highly inspirational, & I will try to fix it myself! Hi, thanks for the video. I have similar receiver - TX-SR608 with th same fault. I have done what you did - removed the pre-amp board and the unit starts. I checked all of the 7 preamp boards for faulty transistors but did not find one. SO I went eliminating bu removing the connectors on the preamp boards hoping I would find one that triggers the protection. I went removing the connectors but the fault was alwyas present. Got dowen to last board, still error, then | swapped that board for different one, but the error is still there. So I assume it is not an issue with individual boards but with something they all have in common. But power supply should be good, if it does not cause issue without the boards on (they use the same +/- 54 V as the power transitros, no other power supply involved). Any ideas where to look next? Thanks

I wonder if you have any idea why my Onkyo 607 does not display anything on the screen, it does start, and I hear the relays inside clicking, but it won't do much more

It can be same issues as I show in an earlier video, where the controller for the HDMI has one or more bad soldering points.

Hai sir my onkyo reciver shows an orange light on hdmi thru and it is not onning. When onning it is showing orange colour in the hdmi thru thing

Hello. Thank you for your comment. It is hard to tell, as long as I don’t have the amplifier on my workbench. But I should start checking the fuses and the relays. After I would check if any issues in the amplifiers.

Sir I have a av receiver tx sr503 it comes on light comes on all the components on the front display comes on but when I seem to hook up the speakers to it I can't get any audio any thing that come out the speakers by put on 201 I can't hear anyting something wrong or something wrong please help

Do you hear the relays click in? Did you check the settings of the amplifier?

Hello and thank you for your comment. I’m sorry, but if your amplifier switches directly to protect when switching on, then there are some issues in the electronics in the pre- or power amplifier.

As I understand, the resistors in connection to the output transistors, has an issue. If they start drifting, then you can get the issues as you describe them.

Nice. Try the copper wire technique for removing multi pin components, take approx 3mm copper wire bend it to fit all the legs and solder connect it to the legs, then use one or two irons depending on size and shape, the copper wire sends the heat across all the legs.

Hello friend. If thermal error, in most electronic, it is most probably an error in your temperature sensor on the heat sink. I hope you find out the issues.

You probably can, but need a modification before that happens. So, in this case I will say no you can not use without preamp.

Sorry late reply. As I understand your problem is that your receiver switches off after a second only? It can either be the preamp or the power amp which has an issue. You can give it a try and remove the preamp and switch on. If it still has the problem, then the issue is the power amp - if it stays on, the issue is the preamp. Good luck.

Hi, yeahhhhh unfortunately I'm starting to hear nothing but bad news regarding this brand Onkyo with the late models or newer models with the hdmi! I'm hearing there burning up or just going out completely, if all the goodies sound to good for such a great price, will it is! (mostly there flagship models only, i hope?) Thank you very much 😊
