Yamaha RX-V550 repair - 18 February 2023

Repair of various faults with a Yamaha RX-V550 Tuner-amplifier.
The mains power sampling capacitor C405 a 22nF 630v polyester capacitor had changed value over time and was preventing the unit from switching on.
Also a number of regulator had failed. After the C405 capacitor and the three faulty regulators were replaced the tuner/amplifier was working perfectly.

Good day, I have a Yamaha RX-V550 with the same issues. I replaced the capacitor but will need to do the regulators once I find it locally here in Cape Town. I've got a Rx-v350, when a speaker is plugged into the left rear channel, the amp turns off (when intermittently connecting the left rear speaker a loud hissing noise is heard) Busy troubleshooting and this video gave me a idea where to start looking. Will update as I make progress

Hello / Good evening to France Peter to thank for this great video (I have the rx-v550) it fell, cut off for months without knowing how to fix it... the c405 was dead or out of order, in short, four welds and Here it is again like new ;) I really appreciate the help you gave to the community of the earth and I wanted you to know that it helped at least one person

The C405 cap is a common fault, so may encounter it.

hello, and good evening from canada, First, could you tell me what you used to make this video, because the quality is incredible... I am looking for information on my amp, RX-A710 because I have it plugged into a bad socket at home, (only 70 V and 40 V with ground)after a couple of minutes , it switchoff and now it doesn't light up at all, the fuse is ok,. I found the service manual but they don't explain how to remove the flat cable sockets between two PCBs. and as I don't want to force it so as not to break anything... if you could explain to me quickly, because I don't want to waste your time, it would be greatly appreciated Thanks

The cameras used are a GoPro a often a Nikon D7200. The video editing is done with Davinci Resolve www.blackmagicdesign.com/au/products/davinciresolve. Davinci Resolve offers a free version, possible the best free app on the internet, however you need a fast computer such as a gaming PC, but has amazing editing features. Most of my video are 1080 resolution and at 60Hz. The flat cable held with type of clamping bar that you need to lift off and then the flat cable should easily pull out. Hello i have rx v495 model when i increase the volume it shutdown. And when I turn on again it shutdown again in few minutes. Afterwards it won't turn on, it shutdown immediately.

I have RX-V450. Does not turn at all. No power going to transformer. Plucked out the c405, measured 7nf. Replaced with new 22nf 630v. Still no power at all. Any suggestions?

Check the MOS right next to the capacitor you replaced 👍
