I wish there’s a female perspective too! Even though I can’t speak for all my female colleagues, I found struggle with online dating especially when it comes to really getting to know the person. The misconception about people in medicine is that we are nerdy and unsociable. I would say most of us can establish a good conversation but that doesn’t necessarily mean we are enjoying the date. While it’s nice to date someone in medicine so we have a common ground and understanding, a lot of men don’t want to have a partner who’s also practicing medicine. They wouldn’t mind dating the pharmacist, the speech pathologist, nurses, but female doctors are often a no-go (anecdotal - from friends). A lot of my friends ended up dating outside of medicine or just marrying their boyfriends from college. Online dating may have worked for some of my colleagues but they never lasted. It’s so great to hear you talk about this topic! I would love if you can invite a female colleague to discuss this and maybe set it up like a live podcast? Anyway that’s it :) love your videos! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and advices with us!

Unsolicited comment from a female MD: I met my bf through Tinder in the middle of med school, going for 2.5 years now. He is far from the field of medicine (or what we like to call "non-showbiz" in our culture 😂). Actually, from what I hear from my friends, they tend to like non-showbiz SO's more. Personally, I like non-showbiz because I don't want medicine to be my only world, and it's great to learn about my bf's passions and expertise. I just feel very lucky to have met someone who understands my circumstances and he has always been a great source of support for me. He's even the one who pushes me to do my best when I have wanted to give up so many times. Seeing him was one of the few things I looked forward to (especially after tiring overnight hospital duties). It's also nice since I didn't actually use Tinder to look for a relationship, and I almost didn't swipe right on him, yet here we are. Residency is coming up, which will be another challenge for us. So maybe my advice is to be open to dating, however you want it (online or organic or whatnot), just be mature about it. Know what you deserve. And education still takes first seat. ☺️

I’m a male med student and honestly my ideal IS finding a girl who is also a med student as I feel that they would understand my life better. I have no qualms or insecurities about having a wife who is on the same (or even higher) footing as me educationally. I find it a little weird that it seems so many men have a problem with that, but then again, I am an introverted introspective person whereas most men probably aren’t. Lol

Dr Jubbal you need to address this midlevel NP independent practice and scope creep issue. The AANA has changed it's name from Nurse Anesthetist to Nurse Anesthesiologist. What's next? Nurse Surgeon Physician? The title doctor is already gone. Get an online DNP thingy, call that a phd and boom, doctor nurse. Nobody with a large platform is talking about this. Everyone needs to be aware of this.
@nicolehessabi51164 жыл бұрын
Clearly, you have never taken the time to speak with and meet an actual DNP or DNP student. We are not physicians were are Advanced Practice NURSES. You’re welcome to message me if you’d like to chat. 🙂
@alexabel26434 жыл бұрын
First off doctor is not special to physician, anyone with a doctoral degree is a doctor. I do agree these online programs are not adequate. CRNA However should be nurse anesthesiologist, they have doctorate degrees and just like physicians they study anesthesia, the confusion is kept a minimum by the NURSE anesthesiologist . The “ologist” is also not special to physicians. I’m not a nurse, so I’m not biased towards them, I believe in some specialties the creep is real and very much a concern. However physicians are acting way more entitled to titles and names than should be available to more.
@natyra224 жыл бұрын
Your arrogance screams loud. First, you come to his channel making a demand ("you need to address") over something you are clearly very pressed about. NP online programs exist, but they are rare and are generally restricted to certain specialties, such as psychiatric mental health. Online nursing programs are more common at the entry level into nursing, not advanced level. Since you seem to have so much time on your hands to be triggered by NPs and petty over titles, try using some of that time to actually research NP programs/education. Google is your friend. Arrogant individuals like you are so obsessed with this false narrative that NPs and PAs want to be physicians, it clearly keeps you up at night. After all, you came to a video about dating screaming about the role and scope of an NP lol. Go have a Snickers and several seats.
@juliusl52114 жыл бұрын
And please keep NPs and PAs as SEPARATE. Our training is drastically different. PA education is solid hardcore medicine. There is absolutely no chance for a PA student to not be a full-time PA student. We do not want to be lumped to the other midlevels that can be training strictly online/ have no prior work experience/ coursework consist of Essays.

As someone who has pretty severe medical conditions (yes, plural), and is a medical provider (APP), I would love to hear the behind the scenes on how you made relationships work in med school, as a resident and fellow, and in other aspects of your career, while also managing your complex health conditions. That might be too invasive or vulnerable to discuss for you personally, but maybe you can make a roundtable with additional guests who are higher earning members in medicine with their own medical disabilities who are trying to find their life partners. ❤

Although looks can be the reason for the initial approach Looks don't matter when it comes to sustaining the relationship. I think working on yourself and being financially and mentally independent is also attractive.. and can be even more attractive than your looks. Another interesting thing is that you have to have a good relationship with yourself to have a better relationship with someone else.
