And you really don’t need music in the background. At all. Thank you for really useful info 👍

Please Ashe for next videos adjust the volume of the soundtrack in background a bit lower, since it may distract from your speech. Apart this, good content as usual

My apologies, I agree that's a bit loud on that one - I'll make sure the volume is a bit lower in the future :)

You need to remove or reduce the background music on your videos; the content is great, but it’s difficult to understand what you’re saying at times.

Was expecting to see some hands-on, or a better description of what to listen for. Instead, there was 10 minutes of talking and jazz hands.

I am new to archery, please explain why the noise the bow makes matters. I get how it is altered but why does it matter? Also you must have been aware of the interference on the sound track from the next room so why not stop it at source before continuing? As a newby I find your videos and Jake Kaminski's really useful, thank you.

I tried this in the past but due to the time it takes to change braceheight i cant tell the difference in sound - do you do this by ear or do you record the sound and then decide which was best? also should this be done without dampeners installed or should we have them on the limbs and stabs?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
I've found that by ear is the best way to do this - I tried recording but it didn't work at all, so I'd definitely do it by ear :) If there isn't much difference then it probably means you're already in the right range :)

String material can also have a great effect on the sound frequency of the bow.

I tried today to really ”tune ” my string. I had a +1 tiller and listened to the tone of the string which wasn’t clean. I changed my tiller to +2 and got a pretty clean B-flat (on my digital tuner). Haven’t shot it yet but I’ll get back to you on that ... doesn’t hurt to try 🎶

Hi Ashe. Is there a guide for the brace height? I have a 66" bow (30lb) and being new to the sport, wondered what my brace height should be. Great videos by the way!
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Alan! Thanks for joining the channel and welcome to the sport :) There should be an acceptable range noted in your bow manual. It varies between manufacturer but you might be able to google your riser model too and find the acceptable basic range :)

How do you set your nocking point for tiller sound tuning? Both are directly correlated, so a different sound might be due to an improper nocking point position if the tiller is changed.
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, but it doesn't affect it too much so you can focus on the tiller first, then do the nocking point after :)

Hi Ashe. Do you recomend sound tuning, taking out from the bow all dampers and anti vibration stuff?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
If you find it a bit hard to hear the difference taking the dampers off can help make it more obvious, but I like to do it with everything on because that's what you'll be shooting with in the end :)

Wow, I've heard that U need between 1 and 1.5 twists per inch for your string, or is that just for Flemish twist strings??

Make sense to use a high quality recorder and microphone and then analyze the sound spectrum of each variation of tiller?
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
I did actually try this but I couldn't get it to work, and found doing it by ear better :) I think if you had a great microphone and were an audio expert you might be able to analyze it well enough

I have crank sound noise after releasing on my bow 68" riser 25", i would like to know based on what I make upper tiller 16mm 17mm 18mm and the Brace height between 21 to 23mm

Great video! Do i have to check the brace height every time i shoot or only after i assemble the bow? Because after i shoot a couple arrows, the brace height changes.

Great video! Does changing draw weight with tiller bolts (not tiller!) or changing to another string (length, count of strains, material) influence brace height tuning?
@dazzyd1964
@dazzyd1964 Жыл бұрын
IMO changing weight through screwing in or out the tiller bolts is not an ideal solution - they’re called tiller bolts and not “poundage” bolts…

Glad you made this video to follow up on the tiller. However, that is not at all how to set the tiller from what I learned and from what I hear from other professional archers. The tiller, as you said, is adjusted to make sure that both limbs act synchronized on release. There's a very easy way to check this: bring your bow up and place the sight pin on a spot on the target face - the smaller the better. Now, start drawing back the string - if your sight stays on the spot, your tiller is correct. If your sight moves up while drawing back, the top limb is too strong, if your sight moves down, the bottom limb is too strong. It's that easy. The sound of the bow is mainly influenced by the correct brace height, which you should adjust ONLY by putting twists in your string.
@OnlineArcheryAcademy
@OnlineArcheryAcademy 4 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean, as this used to be a common recommendation to do the tiller, but it's somewhat outdated now. You can try and draw back extremely straight, but depending on your draw the sight will move up and down and this is a better method to do the tiller. W&W recommend the sound tuning approach for tiller

Another way is to build a rig to draw back the string and mount a laser on the bow. Take out human error.

It is worth to mention that different arrows will sound different. Light X10s will make bow sound bit louder than heavy indoor "pipes" like Eastons X23s. Good video, thanks and keep them coming.
