I was practicing that scale in your intro; and using all my fingers to pick. I noticed a difference when I compared my right hand pinky to the ring finger..same hand; and there was tinny sound with the pinky.

At the risk of being nit picky, if the 7th isn't present, it's not a 9th. That R-5-2 shape is a sus2 chord and honestly sounds like it by itself. If the guitar is playing the 7th (and the 3), then it'll sound like a 9.
@OnlineBassCourses
@OnlineBassCourses 2 жыл бұрын
This was made a long time ago so I honestly have no idea which bit you’re referring to! An add9 chord doesn’t ‘need’ a 7th but, of course, you can make all kinds of voicings with different names.

@@OnlineBassCourses If you're serious, there is a serious lack of 3 things related to playing bass on a Keytar (or any Keyboard for that matter) either of which could give you an opportunity to expand your offerings if you ever decide to pick up the keytar. * The first is lessons on how to play bass lines on keys that sound like or at least approximate a bass guitar. * The second is lessons on cool basslines that are for some reason better or easier to play on keys than with strings (if there is such a thing). * The third would be the creation of bass sample programs that combine the various sounds a bass can make and that are used in good bass lines into a single relatively complex program to be loaded into the Keytar (some allow this such as the Roland AX-Edge) or a midi sound module. Example: a normal bass sample but if you strike the key faster (velocity) above c4 (or trigger a momentary foot switch), you get a slap sample. Today's technology allows all of this stuff but it requires someone willing to spend the time and (most important) that knows what they're looking for to do it (or someone like me willing to buy it). I would love to welcome you to the Keytar Bass club (no there isn't one - yet)

@@rickdeblock1648 you should start the club! I think approaching a keyboard instrument with a bass player’s mind is very interesting.

Sounds great, but it's all too musucally technical for those of us who are hoping to learn from you. "Root five flat seven octave"? I'm already lost. Just say "Put your fingers here and here."

Nah. You really do need to learn that stuff. Put in the effort and you’ll be rewarded. It’s really not that difficult (I have a lot of other videos and a course that will explain intervals easily and quickly). I want people to really understand bass playing and learning intervals is essential, I’m afraid. I won’t be dumbing down in the future.
