Fun video as usual. Waded my favorite stream that flows into the Mississippi River yesterday. 71 smallmouth Bass! Just used a 1/4 oz. Roostertail and Joe’s Flies 1/4 oz. Elite Spinnerbaits. Pretty convinced I caught so many as a Baitcasting setup just gets you to the next cast faster as you skip the steps regarding the bail. Just bought a St. Croix 7’ Light, Extra Fast tip, two-piece Trout Series rod and it was near perfect. 4# Berkley Nano-fil, 12’ of 8# flouralcarbon (some of the fish are over 3 lbs.), Shimano Aldebaran BFS reel. I’m the other side of sixty and Love seeing all you guys enjoying the outdoors. Wishing all of you that fish the Very Best.

Slay Fest!! You guys had a great day out there! Dink fest for sure but there were some nice ones in there too. Garrett's tank smallie was a beauty. I've got to get the BFS out for some wading river smallies.

Hi Ethan ! Nice video ! I buy my BFS combo and I like to know what cane the line used in your baicasting combo ? thanks !!!!

I have tried numerous and it depends on what you plan to use it for. If you want to bass fish with BFS, I would go with light braid (6-15lb) and use a fluoro leader. If you plan to fish panfish or trout, I would go with 4# monofilament!

Ethan quick question, I have a bfs reel and rod coming in, do you think 6 pound fluorocarbon or 6 pound mono will due?

I think either of those would work. I would probably use the fluoro because it is slightly lower diameter but both should be fine.

Do you think the Dobyns is superior to the Sensilite, enough to warrant tripling the cost? Crispness? Sensitivity? Accuracy? Thanks.
@FishAnything3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think the Sensilite is virtually the same rod for a third the price. The Dobyns is likely a bit more sensitive and has more guides to help with casting (line slap) but I am not sure it warrants the price.
@FishAnything3 жыл бұрын
But to be honest, I need to fish the Dobyns more and get a better feel for it.

Mann's used to be a top company in the bass industry. Still makes some classics but not as widely known/distributed. I know they made a stingray grub - it was a much harder plastic than the hand poured bait but still a nice bait!
@srsykes494 жыл бұрын
@@FishAnything I met Tom Mann several times back in the day. A really genuine nice guy. He is sorely missed by those that knew him. His company sponsored a bass tournament every year on Lake Eufaula, of which I participated in back in the late 70s and 80's. He had a "seconds" store where you could buy their factory "reject" baits at a deep discount. I loaded up there many times. Everything was made back then in the town Eufaula Al. He started the Hummingbird Depth Finder Co there in Eufaula Al.
