Born out of frustration at the pedestrian pace of my serve, I recently tried this concept of a slow, controlled build up followed by a much quicker (than usual) drop and 'throw' - the results were amazing. James, thank you for this. Gordon

Been watching several videos and you are right to emphasize how useful shadow swinging is. I used to spend a lot of time in boxing clubs and most of the training revolved around shadow boxing and the right body positioning. Plus you can do this anywhere!

This is a great tip! I think this will help correct my habit of my racket pointing towards the back fence on take back.

Another excellent lesson James! Do you think about coming up on edge with the racquet? --or just adjust your grip with continental, Bh? Bringing elbow forward for more slice or angle? try to hit ball between your shoulders? or try to hit ball in front of you as opposed to the side of you? How do you work on racquet drop? Thanks again James -- you guys are awesome! ( Florian's continuous swing saved my elbow)!!

Great tip. What about the pinpoint stance? At what point you bring the back foot up?
@abiriax2 жыл бұрын
most players bring their back foot up as the ball is coming to the apex of the toss, at the so called trophy position

Thanks James for all your serve videos. It is tremendously helpful! Q: I often see that picture taken from above the professional when they serve, they are looking into the sky. At what point should they start looking foward to see where the ball go after they hit? - thanks

Hi, James. Which foot is the weight loaded on when you first start lifting your service arm? I know there’s supposed to be a rocking motion to the serve, BUT I’m always struggling to adjust the weight on my feet under the toss. How should this weight planting/shifting begin. After the toss, before the toss? During? Great video! Many thanks!

@millcroft1759 Жыл бұрын
Nice video.I will try it ... but why take the outcome out of the equation?
@OnlineTennisInstruction Жыл бұрын
It helps with keeping your focus on the mechanics. Most players subconsciously focus on the result which shifts their focus off the implementation of the new mechanics...making it more difficult to change technique. So we always begin taking the outcome out of the equation to make it easier to work on technique :)

I have found that straightening my legs I.e. lifting the ball with my legs and arms give a more gentle toss, but you don’t straighten your legs that early. Am I losing power or are there other problems coming up that early? Thanks William

Hy James, my problem if I start slow Is that muy toss Is too low. How can I fix that? Thank you
@sidchugh83712 жыл бұрын
You have to move your tossing arm up faster to get more height. The tossing arm and racquet arm are moving at different speed but the end result (toss and racquet takeback to trophy) have to be in sync. Hence you will have to toss first and then do the right to left (or vice versa for lefty), I.e have a lag in the racquet arm. Nadim from OTI has done good videos on this: fluid motion and seperating arm action.
