Lets take a moment to appreciate just how much power James is getting and it doesn't even look like he is trying to serve bombs. Every serve is hitting back wall at 1 meter in height.

Great video, I know for myself and many people that elbow really wants to push out, it is the shoulder trying to protect itself. I am working on keeping the alignment (the straight line) as he shows in this video, but it takes about 30 minutes of careful warm up and I have to monitor it especially during second serve.

Οne of the best explanations that short out a serious problem after the toss

Very good explanation, James! I think what I'm finally starting to "appreciate" is how much more I need to focus at the outset on the shoulder/chest turn, rather than the racket arm movement, in order to make the right to left movement, and avoid the racket pointing behind me & then dropping and pointing toward the net.

Very good reminder to throw up instead of out. When doing this progression, I go even farther and throw the ball up at such an angle that it lands in front of the net. That really helps develop the topspin serve.

One double fault in my last 14 sets. James is the new serve doctor.

Thanks for the tip of turning your body instead of just the arm/shoulder. I did that and it caused a lot of stress so I had a pulled muscle on my back/shoulder blade area.

Hi James...thank you for this drill and I hope Im doing it correctly but if I use my racket and imagine throwing the ball it really allows the racket to do the work. Also, can you do a video and drill on how to do the shoulder over shoulder cartwheel on serve?...thanks

Just turn...check alignment..and RIIIIIIIIP!!!! Holy cow that ball comes off your racquet fast!

This throwing idea is a way unto itself. Don't need to do the right to left drills, the elbow lead drill. Its an all in one technique and much more natural.........i think😂 Proof is in the pudding, ill let you know in a few weeks time.

Nope, didn't work, just cannot get the racket anywhere near my head

it IS working. Concentrating on throwing. Alternating without the ball very useful too.
