Who is Dr. Ergin? Dr. Ahmet Ergin is an endocrinologist with a particular interest and passion for diabetes care. Dr. Ergin earned his medical degree with honors at Marmara University School of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. Then, he completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. He is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. He is also a certified diabetes education specialist.

Live to be 110!!!! You have to be kidding. Cost of staying in a “senior home” or apartment is astronomical!!! Our children have to support their children and it would be a strain on them.

You’re right and you will get abused in a nursing home. My mom and everyone I knew that wound up in them were abused and sent to ER’s time after time. That’s not on my bucket list!!

There are pastas that are made of chic peas, black beans, quinoa and various vegetables. No semolina flour. The alternative pastas are supposed to diabetic friendly. Is that true? Also there has been talk from dieticians that cooking and refrigerating rice, pasta and white potatoes changes the starch and can then be eaten (cold -think pasta or potato salad/hot-reheated mashed or baked potato) safety by diabetics. Is this information true?

I look at it this way: If I'm looking at some awful food 🥝😹 I ask myself: i Is this Donut 🍩 Krueller Triple Chocolate cake 🍰🎂 burger 🍔 worth losing another Toe over? The answer is a resounding 'No!' EVOO is best!

Salted foods; sugary foods desserts, cheese , cherries and grapes, doughnuts,bread, alcohol in excess,fried foods,too much coffee are to be avoided after age of 50.

Why is coffee bad? How does it spike glucose? Is there something in particular in coffee? Is it caffeine, so that other beverages with caffeine should be avoided? Is it because most/many people equate coffee with sugary coffee drinks? I don't even drink coffee, but without this information I don't know if there is anything related that I should be careful with.

I am a T-1 I drink decaffeinated coffee with Half and Half, cinnamon, Stevia (1 or 2-pk) Turmeric, ginger and Ghee. I don't have a problem at all with my numbers spiking. T-1 are VERY sensitive to alot of stuff.

I don't see myself ever giving up coffee entirely, but I have started gradually mixing in decaf beans (down to 2 parts regular to 3 parts decaf), and I don't notice the difference.
