Day 8 showed not one pound lost. 10% of diabetics have rebound high blood sugar whenever it drops too low at night. We get those little black dots arround vision that say 'fainting fainting'. I was perfect on the water fast, no cheats. And never could fast again for some reason, by 12 hours terrible nausia, and losing consciousness symptoms. Not all bodies are the same.

@@carolpreved6055 you are absolutely correct. Fasting will definitely help your body to use up glucose and improve insulin sensitivity. If you take glucose lowering medication you will likely have to reduce your dosage so watch your glucose levels so you don’t over medicate. Don’t believe anyone who says diabetes is a chronic irreversible disease. You can absolutely reverse it and many other conditions by eating the right foods. It’s known that eight of the leading causes of death in America are fundamentally rooted in impaired glucose metabolism and insulin resistance. Also know that carbs are not inherently bad for you, it’s the ultra processed carbs and sugar. Like the doctor stated, eat complex carbs. Stay away from fruits with high glycemic index. I stick with berries mainly.

I was a Vegan for several years and because of oxalate toxicity I became very sick and had several surgeries to remove large kidney stones, a hysterectomy, tumors on the bottom of my feet and I attribute this, but didn’t find out for several years later, to oxalates in the food I was consuming. I’ve done Keto and lost a great deal of weight ..I just don’t like seafood and rarely eat chicken because of the way they are grown with an 8 week turnaround death rate which makes the chicken stringy - I do eat eggs from a local farmer and the meat I consume is also locally grown. And because of the oxalates and damage done I have issues which are clearing up after several years with arthritis which kicks in time to time so I stay away from vegetables high in lectins as well. On occasion I will have romaine tossed in real olive oil, lemon and salt to taste. ..I might even have a few other veggies but for the most part I consume high protein. Just recently I have found out that sugar and carbohydrates in general are among the most dangerous substances, although they do not look like that at first due to amazing ability of our bodies to stay in homeostasis like even some economies who can do despite bad processes going on. So, Since I started to watch my food and the way I absorb it I have started to improve physically and emotionally. Fasting, intermittent fasting, some exercise, positive thinking and possibly some meditation, good music and so on so forth, the results are coming and I feel lighter, more energetic and even some water tastes better. I had a simple turkey broth today and it made me feel so much healthier .I ate it with zero carbs. Although later I had a "healthy" drink with some sugar in it but I do not want to be absolute about anything. Still having said that I reduce sugar and other carbs knowing that this way improves my health and strength and good feeling all round. Healthy planet, healthy life, healthy people.

You're actually at a higher risk of your pancreas completely wearing out so you should avoid eating any fruits or grains at all. At least for a period of time to see if your body will bounce back. That's why you're thin. Insulin is a fat storing hormone and prediabetics usually have way too much but it just doesn't work such is why they tend to be fat. Type 1 diabetics and the thin prediabetics are the ones who don't produce the insulin they need which is why they're either losing weight or thin and can't afford too loose any.

Regardless of where you are on that journey everyone should have fasting INSULIN (not glucose) test done or C peptide and track insulin levels. This will show where your health really is in reality not theory vs how we do it in US where there’s “no issue” until you are diabetic. You want your insulin level to be 2-4. You won’t get flagged as diabetic until it’s over 25. That doesn’t mean we are not doing damage from decades of higher insulin. Just means we are doing it blindly. @@princessmundle100 absolutely, Princess! Start off by eating only 3 small meals per day. Make sure that it is high in good fats (coconut oil, olive oil, avocado, animal fat etc). Then slowly over the next week, start to squeeze these meals closer together by not going longer than 4 to 5 hrs between meals. Next comes the best part! Start to have your first high fat, medium protein, low carb breakfast early in the morning. Then, after another week, drop your 3rd meal of the day altogether. Then, over the following week or two, begin to have your 2nd (last!) meal of the day only 4 to 5 hours after your breakfast! This will give your digestive system a massive rest in order to kick in your parasympathetic nervous system and will ensure that you begin to tap into your fat reserves, especially in your mid section!! Make sure that you are eating absolutely NOTHING WHATSOEVER for 16 to 18 hours of the day, and you can easily reduce your insulin level dramatically over the following 2 months!!! You should then go to your doctor and check your insulin levels (not simply your blood glucose levels!) and ask them if it it okay to gradually reduce your insulin dosage. Before you know it, your dependency of insulin should be dramatically reduced and then (hopefully) eradicated altogether through the intermittent fasting you've been doing for the next few months!! But PLEASE REMEMBER... Make sure that you never go over 30 grams of carbohydrates per day, if not less! A zero carb diet will eventually be optimal for the absolute best results possible! But, remember to START Slow and gradually reduce your carb intake! Good luck with your lifestyle change, Princess!! BONUS : Do 20 minutes of walking 3x per week and some resistance weight training 2x per week for the absolute best outcome for your health, well-being and your future, but you can start to do this after getting through the first few weeks of beginning your diet!!!

I'd suggest cutting out all grains/breads/flours/tortillas/etc, all seed oils (soy/canola/corn/safflower/sunflower/grapeseed/etc, and almost all sugars. So, cut grains, seed oils, sugars. Then, you'll be eating ancestrally, eating the foods our bodies are evolved to process. Then you'll have improved health and probably greater longevity.

Ya well most people cant even correctly count calories let alone tell you accurately what their Body Fat % is. How are yu having it measured? let me guess, you aren't, you think you can estimate it accurately yourself, lol! 10% body fat isn't even considered healthy for someone in their 50's! Given that you think the intermittent fasting is in some way aiding this (hint, it isnt) I highly doubt you are accurate!

About 10 yearscago when I moved to my present City, my new Dr. ran comprehensive blood work. I was a mess. Many different things were way off, one being i was insulin resistant. He recommended a course on diet. With a few changes, cutting way down on sugar, and carbs, being the standouts. Within 6 months the only thing that I hadn't got under control was good cholesterol. It wasnt that difficult. Mostly moderation.

I'm going to try some of the things you suggested. I've been hovering right at the edge for close to a decade on A1C tests, then last year in the fall, I went over - not horribly, but I was not happy. I spent the winter in the Philippines, since I retired last summer, and since my beloved is there - and when I came back my A1C was back below the line by quite a bit. So I think maybe it was the fish heavy diet, despite the white rice. We are waiting for his fiance' visa so he can join me here - but I will try to eat more fish and I will take cinnamon capsules while we wait. I prefer to be in good health both for myself and for him. Thank you Doctor. Your attitude is great. Kind thoughts and be blessed.

However, grass fed/finished beef, and pastured eggs are hood sources of the omega complexes. Additionally, pastured eggs have many of the trace minerals we need.

I eat once or twice a day, as I have to lose 40 lbs more. my average blood sugar is 5.8, but i am getting readings before meals at 4.8 to 5.2. this is 3 points lower than last month. my whole problem was inactivity and stress from work. I retired, and focussing on my health. no need for anything else. my AIC was 7. it will be normal within 3 months. Because I was sensitive to blood sugar drops, especially when I was pregnant, I learned to limit portions and not skip meals.
