Does this Bible contain proof that a god exists or that any particular set of beliefs are correct and true above all other 3,000 distinct and 45,000 sub brands of Christianity?

Well... the proof that God exists is all around you. The perfect tuning of the cosmos, the fact that you are able to reason, the fact that all of this came from nothing. All of that is proof of a creator. Now, what the Bible does provide is proof that the God of the Bible is the one true God. How? Well how do we prove the truthfulness of anything? We check it's track record. The Christian Bible is unique in that it was written by more than 40 different authors over a span of close to 2,000 years. There are hundreds of direct prophecies that have come true in its pages, and not a single thing has been proven false. Jesus is pointed to throughout the entire Bible thousands of times. If you want the most compelling prophecies of His, read Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53, then compare them to the life of Jesus as described in any of the Gospels. The two chapters were written hundreds of years before Christ and give exquisite details of His life and death. No other religion does this, or even can do this. Not even close. Biblical prophecy is attainable only by God because He exists outside of time. All other false religions cannot predict the future because they are not God's handiwork.

@@RustyBibles “all around you”, isn’t proof of anything, you’d need to demonstrate something was created before claiming a creator., “the perfect tuning of the universe” isn’t proof that it was created for us, perhaps we evolved to fit within it”. Your perfect god’s perfect sun causes cancer, so is this an expression of love from your perfect loving god? “Something from nothing”, is a theist’s argument, I’ve never heard an atheist make this claim. Again, you’d need to define nothing, then prove the universe hasn’t always existed. The Big Bang doesn’t speak of origins, just an expansion. Your arguments are based on an ancient set of religious texts that are full of unsubstantiated claims, so essentially you’ve proven nothing. Think better…

Didn't want to criticize, but I agree the cover is SUPER thin like it's not just top grain leather: they shaved of the top of the top of the top grain. And on mine, about an inch of the fold-over wasn't completely glued down. TN/Zondervan manage to provide perimeter stitching on their budget bibles. I would have liked to see perimeter stitching here rather than the tooled line. Cheap paper, but no big deal. It's the paper I'd expect at this price. Overall, still a nice ESV Bible.

Rather than a special edition produced particularly for Truth for Life, this seems instead to be a way for Crossway to offload otherwise premium Bibles with minor aesthetic defects. I know two people that got them, one has an error in the gilding and the other had some pages folded in on themselves at the bindery so they had unsightly creased pages. Rather than throw away otherwise beautiful Bibles, Crossway lets ministries like Truth for Life take these "damaged goods" that are still beautiful and serviceable Bibles and tip in their own advertising page An interesting side-effect of the mass production of publishing projects. I'm glad these exist and I'm getting one myself when otherwise I wouldn't be able to responsibly purchase such a high quality Bible
@RustyBibles Жыл бұрын
The TfL page is sewn in, so I'm not sure this is the case, but I certainly appreciate when manufacturers sell their scratch and dents at a reduced cost. Humble Lamb does it best with quite a substantial discounts for typically minor issues. I recently got the Lion edition, and the only thing wrong with it was a small dent in the box.

They have stopped printing the value editions of thinline reference bibles; which I suspect could be due to the fact that the references were too tiny, this is why they are focusing on large print thinline range for reference editions; and that too i think would sell less perhaps, bec i think the x-ref are either too much or they are inconvenient in their typeset; i think they should reduce them and increase their font size. Their ref thinline edition really seems to be struggling sales perhaps. @@RustyBibles

If you love God’s word then you would use traditional text. If the Greek compilation or translations you use take Jesus’ Deity out of 1TIMOTHY 3:16 and John 3:16 or make Jesus lie to his brothers in John chapter 7 concerning going to the feast then that is not traditional text. Modern Bible translators translate from a corrupted set of codexes which jesuits, catholics and satanists compiled. They worked to replace reliable codexes to translate from, instead using Codex Sinaiticus which was created in the 1800’s which they pass off as the oldest and best “old” Bible; Sinaiticus, they claim is 1500ish years older than it truly is. Then there is codex Alexandrinus which “appeared” about ten years after KJV 1611 was published, and codex Vaticanus which appeared in the Vatican around the 1400’s and was rejected by the scholars that worked on the KJV. Not every verse in scripture was changed but there are changes throughout. In a nutshell, handing Bible Translators something “messed up” to translate “from” makes whatever they translate “to” wrong from the start.
@kolsonmaddox77710 ай бұрын
The modern translations do not “take out” the Deity of Christ in 1 Tim 3:16, nor in John 3:16, nor do they make Jesus lie in John 7. In John 7 when Jesus says “I am not going up to this feast” He is talking about a traditional way that the Jews “go up” to the feast. Jesus was not going up to the feast in that way that His brothers were, but was going in secret. The Greek present tense can literally have the sense “I am not now going” as well, indicating Jesus wasn’t going the way His brothers were. I’m not sure what your argument against John 3:16 in the modern translations is. I’m guessing you mean “His only >begotten Son
@joshuaa307510 ай бұрын
@@kolsonmaddox777 I would suggest you use traditional text to translate from. There are people that have read John 7 in critical text that then throw out Jesus as God because they read it and say He lied. The 47 men that translated from traditional text or other Bible translations from traditional text do not agree with you. William Tyndale does not agree with you either. Go look up the book of Daniel chapter 3, verse 25 I believe. Do Critical Text Translations have that correct as well? What King N. said about who he saw in the fiery furnace? Like one of the gods. or does it say Son of God? King N.'s extremely strong decree, at the end of the chapter, tells us a lot and it doesn't harmonize with critical text translations rendering "like one of the gods."
