Fun to see the transition from the early episodes of panicking every time the black hole is in view, to now jumping around when literally suspended upside down over it. Also, the core of the interloper makes me tear up. Such a good game.

The tails coming off the interloper are something that all comets have. one is a stream of dust and the other gas (vaporized water, if I remember correctly) basically the star melts ice, releasing trapped dust. radiation and solar wind then blow the dust and gas away. so those aren't "speed streaks" trailing behind the comet's path. they're streams of the comet's material getting blown directly away from the star. They form into two tails because the gas and the dust are effected slightly differently. edit: important note, I'm not even an amateur astronomer. this is like half remembered stuff mixed with a quick Google search. don't just parrot this without double checking. and if you know something I said is wrong, please correct me.

Fun fact to 7:40: A comets tail doesn't come from its own movement but from interaction with the sun. The sun essentially generates a solar wind that throws particles off the comet into space away from the sun. A comet can have two tails. Gases are blown away from the sun in a straight line while some heavier particles are slowly drifting away but still somewhat follow the orbit. You can tell the makers of the game are total physics nerds!

"I wish I could let you guys know where I'm at" - show the ship's computer, particularly in "rumor mode". That gives experienced Outer Wilds enjoyers a preeeeeetty good idea of where you're at in your journey. Oh, and just because it's been bugging me since episode 2: There is no "s" in Brittle Hollow. Not a plural ("Brittles") nor a possessive ("Brittle's"), the planet is simply brittle, and hollow.

Comets' tails consist of gases and other matter blown/boiled away from the comet by the star, to tails don't go behind the comet like fire from jet engine, they instead always go outwards, opposite to the star's direction

The comet tail is somewhat realistic. You will notice the comet has two tails. One always points away from the sun: that is a trail of ions being blasted off the comet by the sun. The other tail points at an angle; that is larger snow/dust particles, which have some momentum and thus come off at an angle to the comet's trajectory.

The reason things like the interloper and the orbital probe cannon (asked about in a previous vid) is because you are they are in the same inertial reference frame. You are moving in the same direction as then, as the same speed as them once you match velocity. A great common example is being on a train or in a car. If you toss a ball up in the air, it will fall back down to you, because it has the same velocity as you do forward when you toss it up, and the vehicle is shielding you from outside forces, like air resistance.

Please read the top right of the screen when using the scout launcher, specifically where it tells you how to use it's other mode. Very convenient game mechanic for seeing ghost matter without having to recall and re-launch the scout every time.

The mod is called Quantum Space Buddies. I took my bestie through the game this way, maybe you could take your misses through once you beat it? :) You will need to grab another copy of the game for her first of course. As for other games similar to Outer Wilds, my bestie says that Talos Principle is giving him Outer Wilds vibes with the puzzles and lore involved 54:20 I love the look of dawning realization on your face here lmao 57:01 This is the first time I've ever seen this happen and I watch a lot of these playthroughs lmfao. Look at how busted it is 59:30 This projection spot is actually a bit of a red herring. There's no stone inside the tower itself (so don't worry you haven't missed anything), but there is a stone near the gravity cannon that projects into the tower if you plug it in and take a look inside. I believe you've already read it :)

The quantum moon won't help you be less confused but what you will find there will be shocking. I had reached the point where you are and got somewhat frustrated because I could not figure out what to do next. Clearing the ship log entries will definitely help. As I said in an earlier video, things only really start to makes sense in the last hour or so of the game and you probably have 2 or 3 more hours to go depending on what you discover first.

Er, not exactly. Anything with a green (!) icon means there is unread info. Anything with an orange (*) means there is something you missed when you went there. Anything with an orange [?] in the tile means you have heard of it but not reached it yet. The tile colors themselves are theme colors: purple for Quantum Moon, orange for Ash Twin, green for Probe Tracking, and whatever color the Vessel is (I forget). Grey tiles are ones that don't fit a single theme.
