I am one of those people who remembers over a thousand past lives and I have ran across a few others who remember many past lives as well. If you pay attention to the cars in the beginning of the movie, you'll see that it is the 80's. Mark Walhber's character is supposed to be 35 in the modern time as it takes place in 2020 so that does stretch the immersion a bit.
