It’s a complement from a Chinese person when they say that your dessert is “not too sweet”

Same 😂 When I went to China for the first time and tried soup dumplings the first time, the locals I was with didn't warn me because they wanted to see if I'd mess up or not. They didn't get a laugh out of it though as I was very careful and took a small nibble just to taste it, noticed the soup and drank the soup before eating the dumpling like a pro 😅 The locals I stayed with were so worried about the food, not being sure if I'd like the local cuisine, so initially they got me bread and butter for breakfast, but I quickly assured them I was more than happy eating local foods (like really, I don't fly for over 10 hours to eat the same food I eat at home...) and I was adamant that they shouldn't worry about me when we went out for dinner, I told them to order fish or seafood if THEY wanted it and that I was perfectly content with not trying everything and that I always found several dishes that I liked and sticking to those, and really not being bothered about there being maybe 2-4 dishes on the table that I didn't like (I don't eat fish or seafood other than shrimp and crayfish). They were so worried, but thankfully relaxed a bit about it after a while after many reassurances and learning more about how me as a westerner wasn't used to having so many different foods in one sitting to begin with, so it was/is in my nature to have fewer different foods in one meal even if going to a buffet somewhere. China is a pretty amazing place to visit, I had a great time there on each of my 3 visits, and I miss the food to this day, and it's been little over 14 years now since I last went. Absolutely love dumplings, hand pulled noodles, lotus root, sticky rice etc. and OMG the fruit in China! The fruit is so crazy good 🤤

i love that they pointed out not to sweet because its basically just in the US that deserts are as sweet and sugary as they are most other countries dont do super big over the top baked sweets they are still out there but they arent normalized like you wont get anything bad its just a light sweetness that coats your tongue and its wonderful
