A true educator! He’s been educating and making food entertaining since I was a child. “If Yan can cook, so can you” with those impeccable knife skills!! I’m glad to see him still educating!

Same here. I remember being a kid at the Vacaville Onion Festival and my mom was so excited to get an autograph wth him back in 1991. Great times.

Martin Yan has one of the best personalities of any television chef in history. It was always a treat to watch his show on Saturday afternoons. Thanks for not being creepy, like several of those other guys. AND I KNOW YOU KNOW WHO I'M TALKING ABOUT, BUDDY. LOL

One of the feelings of intimidation we might feel when going to our local cultural markets comes from not knowing about what’s in front of you. Binging this series, and seeing the people responsible for the wonderful shops you visit dispels that feeling of intimidation and makes me excited to try new ingredients and foods

Thanks Bryan for your kind words. I grew up in a world where families would shop every day at the neighborhood street markets. I knew most of the vendors, they were my friends and my neighbors. But you don't really need a personal connection to feel at home. A smile can do wonders. I look forward to seeing yours in my next trip to MY Chinatown.

@@ChefMartinYan What I want to know is how to make American style Chinese food, like sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, bbq pork, fried shrimp, egg rolls, red sauce, hot mustard. For example, there are NO PEAS AND CARROTS in proper American style pork fried rice. Just a bit of egg, green onions, pork, etc. If I wanted to eat at Panda Express, I WOULD. But I don't because IT'S HORRIBLE. And no, I don't want pineapple, carrots, and peppers in my sweet and sour chicken. Just sauce and chicken, please. SIMPLE IS GOOD.

I've been told that I'd inspired at least two generations of chefs and wannabe chefs. Some of your parents have written to thank me, others sent repair bills for their kitchens.

I used to make fun of Chinese traditional medicine, but the simple fact is, mint ice cream sandwiches cure a hangover in the morning. And if that doesn't work, shotgun a beer with 2 aspirin. HEADACHE GONE IN 15 MINUTES.
