I typoed some coordinates. Here is exactly what I meant (thanks to Named Person for highlighting this): 1...Rd8 2. Qe3 (2. Qxd8 Qxc1+ mates; 2.Qf4 Qc3+ 3. Kf1 Qc4 4. Ke1 Qe2#) 2...Qxc2! and White's position is overloaded. If 3. Rxc2 Rd1# If 3. Qxf3 Qxc1+ 4. Ke2 Rd2+ 5. Ke3 Rd1+ 6. Ke2 Qd2# If 3. Ra1 (one of many time-wasting moves) 3...R/Qd1+ 4. Rxd1 5. Q/Rxd1#

RC8 to D8 attacking white Q. If Q takes rook, then black Q takes white rook and checkmate! But instead if whit Q moves to E3 then black Q takes pawn on C7. If rook takes Black Q then rook to D1, checkmate! If you all the time in the world, playing chess would be much easier without any pressure of time! With blitz game memorize your lines and hope your opponent blunder and attack like Tal.

I'm not good at writing chess notation, but the solution to the puzzle is. ... Rd8 ! 2 Qxd8 Qxc1# If 2 Qe3 Qxc2! 3 Rxc2 Rd1# If 3 Qxf3 Qxc1+ 4 Ke2 Qxg1 and black will emerge a rook up. And depending on what white does, black will either win material or mate.

Mikhail Tal is such a legendary player. He somehow manage his intuition well in a game sacrifice with purpose. In the puzzle I guess Black should sacrifice Re8 pointing to the Queen if Q×Re8 then Q×Rf1+ forcing the Queen to move in Qe1 then Q×Qe1# black wins.

bishop takes e4 pawn, might have to take other pawn if player pushes, bishop must cover c7 square, rook on c7 takes pawn, only choice is to take with rook, queen moves to back rank check once bishop moves back to original starting space, player can respond with several tactics but i would take that route.

Rxc4, after this it is impossible to stop Rxe4 check mate. If Queen tries to protect E4, then it will have to give up the defence of her rook. So either ways, it will be checkmate.

So you need to go e8 with the rook first, if white moves the queen, it's checkmate on queen c1, so his only logical move would either be Kf1 or Qe3. In both case, you can simply take e4 with the rook. After Rxe4 If Qxe3, take the queen with your rook and put him in check, if he moves his king f1, take the rook with your queen and it's checkmate. If he takes with the pawn, you just take his rook with the queen. After that, you let him do whatever he wants, you are up a queen against a rook. If Kxf1, then simply move your queen b5 and force him to defend with the pawn or the queen. If he covers with the pawn, then take the pawn with your rook. He has to take your rook, if not, he's checkmated on a discovered check. When he takes your rook, then take his rook with your queen, then he's forced to go Kxe1, then you go Qxe4 check, he moves his king back to f1, then queen b1, he will block with queen e1 then you go queen d3 and his only option is to defend with queen e2, then you take the queen and it's checkmate

ig the move starts with ...Rd8 Qg5 Qb4+ Kf1 Qc4+ Ke1 Qe2#. any other move would lose for black much faster. If white goes Qxd8, Black will simply go Qxc1+ Qd1 Qxc1#. I don't really see any other way black will respond though every single move is losing

The best response for white is Qe6 because Qc6+ is also a threat by black. Qg5 and Qf4 hang a mate in 3 starting by Qc6+. Also Qb4+ also works after Qg5 albeit longer, but did you see c3? You would still be able to sac your queen and checkmate with the rook on d8.
