Back in the day you can get a phone from the phone company as a “rental” but you never end up owning it. My aunt had a phone company rental phone from the late 80s and she didn’t realize they were charging her 2.50 a month and she just found a few years ago and gave the phone back but she must have paid them close to a $1000 over the years to rent that stupid thing and it was just an old fashioned corded phone.

She probably shoulda made sure her car was in spot 1 before leaving, but upon realizing she didn't do that and since it seems like they move each others cars all the time, they shoulda moved her car back into spot 1 and then used the last two spots as they needed.

Yes, but I think it’s more on her than them since they said she left town without tell them or saying for how long she would be gone. She left knowing she was blocking them in and her car would need to be moved. The most convenient action would be everyone go outside together and rearrange the vehicles. It’s like all of these people expect the other people to be considerate although they aren’t.

I happened to grow up in the town Isla Vista is part of, and I ended up moving out of town in 2000 because I spent over a year looking for a _room_ that cost less than $1000 a month where I could have my small dog. It's hella expensive. In Isla Vista, it's very common to have double the people per bedroom, two or more to a room, because of the cost. And parking was a total nightmare, it was infamous for it. Perhaps it's gotten better, I haven't been there in the past decade much, but I doubt it. It's also a coastal place, with houses literally hanging over cliffs above the ocean...cliffs which did and continue to erode. It also used to be infamous on Halloween, because in the 70s Playboy listed it as one of the Top Five US Places To Be on that holiday. it's where the sorority and frat houses are, so Oct. 31st (and the whole weekend if it fell on a Friday or Monday) was a zoo, averaging at least one death per year, countless arrests, dozens of SAs, and a lot of damage. They started cracking down on things when I graduated High School, so don't know what it's like now. Don't get me wrong, it was a charming little town, but it had more energy (some quite negative) than it knew what to do with. Therd were also riots there and a bank got torched in the 60s or 70s.

Leslie definitely seems like an inconsiderate roommate. Moving a chair in that takes up a massive amount of space in a room you share. Moving patio furniture IN the house at an inconvenience to other roommates. Blocking your roommates in before you leave for the week. I don't know how much it would've helped but it would've been nice if she communicated with them at least. Not just assumed that her discomfort was all that mattered to everyone.

The room thing should have been sorted beforehand so first come first serve is fair to me, but she does seem very inconsiderate i.e. the car and leaving the table in the middle of the room. However, why would the girl move it outside if she knew it was Leslie's and why would they move the car onto street if not to spite her? They said they didn't know she wanted it there but she parked it there for a reason and they said it was to allow two other cars in the three spots so move it to anyone of those spots!

I don’t understand why y’all are hating on the defendant so much. Sounds like after the first disagreement they all turned against her and would squabble over everything. Turns out she shared the ocean room view, why would only she have to pay more? She brought her own chair into their room and now she can’t use the phone even though it’s “the only thing she owned in the house” because apparently they wanted to use her chair too. She’s of course wrong for breaking the phone but y’all are obviously ignoring their bully-like behavior. One of the roommates moved her table outside after she put it inside so it didn’t get stolen; it then was stolen. They moved her car into street parking when there was a parking lot and she got $300 worth of damage on it. Why are y’all so biased? Y’all want the ocean view that bad?
