I think that some of these people have admirable habits about recycling and re-using. They just took it to an extreme.

Seems like many of these people have become hoarders. Most of the things they have will not be used. If they are dedicated to reducing waste give or sell the item. Give it a new use.

The difference I see is they are organized hoarders, who can find whatever in a matter of minutes. But, you are right that they need to fix the item and let it move on to help someone else.

@@-anotherbrokenegg I've followed Roy Haynes who was featured on the show as he's known as America's Cheapest Man, and he certainly lives the cheapskate lifestyle. He was first in the National Enquirer back in the '80s. He does help lots of people though and he's always busy.

My ex husband like nothing better than a trip to the tip with my two boys back in the 80's and brought some horrible stuff back; an old air conditioner that looked hideous but lasted a couple of years. He still hoards.

I get that these people are happy and they’re living in their own way, but don’t drag your damn kids into it. That child needs new socks, there is a point when being stingy with your kids becomes neglect.

I wouldn’t consider that neglect since they are uniform socks. They could be pricey, and he doesn’t seem to care, since nobody can tell by just looking at him.

you can buy socks for a couple of quid, kids don't need lots of items but they should have basics and I'm sure she would get some funding for the child so there is no excuse

As someone thst is in boy scouts I can tell you that uniform socks cost three times as much as a regular pair of socks. Judging from the look of that oy he is about 10 and that means it is probably less than a year before he moves up to boy scouts from cub scouts. Then he will need a totally different uniform including different socks. It can be a lot of money to pull together for a uniform he will only be in for a shirt time. Kids that age hit growth spurts that can quickly increase their height and width if a boys shoulders. It gets expensive very fast.

While some of these people can be rather extreme, but some of these actions need to be noted and put into action in many households. Especially when it comes to clothes. We toss clothes so willingly and quickly when we should upcycle and keep with them for longer...

I draw the line at food! Food has expiration dates even if its frozen. I'm guessing the dont eat much if any fresh foods!

This is frustrating to watch. Their houses look filthy and in Florida where I live, that would be filled with roaches, spiders, and all sorts of nasty things. The heat would make it smell rancid. I can't stand clutter.

I'm all for trying to save the environment; so it's very easy to get caught up with the accumulation of plastics, foil, glass and papers. Unfortunately, my landlady and I do not agree with my efforts, and has forbidden me to do any further recycling - but I always find a way to get around her. I don't know if this means anything, but I'm a New Yorker, and she is a transplanted Brit; (with a sassy attitude!)

If you already do you if you use cooking oil you can put them in a bottle and freeze it before leaving it outside for the garbage men technically she can't do anything because if you were to put them down the drain it'll cost her money and you can't throw it away in regular trash because it's a fire hazard

It's one thing to be a little thrifty & to be able to fix something that you already have it's another to go picking through someone else's trash and take it home & just put it in piles !!! It's called trash collecting hoarders & people that need help... Just like I don't understand with the show hoarders when some of them get frustrated enough & start yelling just throw it all away that's the opportunity to do so why do they then step in & say now ( whatever that person's name is ) let's think about this it's not healthy blah blah NO it's not healthy living like that!!! So throw it away & then take that person to a nut farm until they figure out it's not the way to live!!!
