Is there a way to actually make Lewis comment at 1:50 true? "It's one of those situations where you take over an empire that's been managed by an idiot and figure out what's going on." Like actually change civs each session. See if Lewis can deal with Rythian's non existant military while Rythian has to manage an actual empire. Or Kirsty swaps with Duncan and finally finds new Lands to settle.😂

I can't remember how Civ does it, but if civ allows the player to change who controls what civ when loading the game it should be possible, not on the fly of course.

Daltos and Duncan really missed the opportunity to stop Lewis. They were both ahead of him in tech, and Daltos had artillery like, 15 turns before Lewis. But he completely squandered that massive advantage and soon Lewis will be unstoppable.

Oops! Only Lewis! The great post-break game where you have to come back and take over an empire for an idiot. It’s just that the idiot is yourself from a few weeks ago. I understand why they need to break these games up but if they got just a bit better at the game they would also get through them faster. A semi-competitive game usually sees a science victory before turn 170, if the players haven’t already agreed there’s a clear winner well before. And if someone is able to do a tourism play without being killed it can end before 150. One of the things about the way civ works, if everyone is having a good game (see: keeping on a good tech pace) it makes all techs go faster which makes the game go quicker thanks to the tech discount system. This is something I saw first hand as our fan community got better at playing Civ, going from games lasting past 200 turns to sometimes seeing a science victory at turn 160. I know it’s asking a lot for all the players to learn Lekmod Civ to a level to compete with the likes of Ry but if they just learned how to play the early game decently it would set them up to stumble through later game much more efficiently and probably cut a good 30 turns (and several hours) off of the game lengths. In this episode we see Lewis (and we only get to see Lewis) take Freedom, mostly because I think he’s just familiar with it rather than whether or not it’s the best for his situation. This is something I’d love to see Lewis get better at recognizing just as we see him this episode starting to realize that a lot of buildings are just plain not worth your time and the later you get in a game the less time a building has to provide you with any benefit making this cost/reward analysis skew more and more towards not building them. However, it is almost never worth it to have a city produce science or gold, instead more units is almost always better. Standing army tax passed but to be honest the standing army tax mostly hurts players that are behind (with less cities and gold production) than larger players who have plenty of gold production to shrug off the higher unit maintenance.

Why is a city not producing science a good thing? Surely it can help Lewis catch up and research techs a turn or 2 faster

@@Spyro5500 It's very inefficient, you only get a small boost in science for a huge amount of production (which you should be using on more important things)

I feel like the yog crew never pushes their own advantages. Like anytime someone goes to war it’s just because Lewis attacked THEM or they decided ahead of time that they wanted to go to war this civ session, so they declare war at some random point. Daltos could have been destroying Lewis with artillery that he got last episode.

That was so infuriating, daltos had the perfect opportunity to kill lewis, could have had duncan in th war too, it does not matter lewis had more soldiers, arty and gattling guns would have crushed him, but now its too late, next episodes they will be attacked by lewis, be defeated and then complain why no one stopped lewis before.

Im a civ noob, how does Lewis get his two newest cities to match or even surpass his older cities in pop? Food focus, and then switch to full production at 11-12 pop?

I've had very successful science/conquest wins in Civ 5 with 6-7 costal cities, but with Babylon and something like +2000 science/turn.

My favorite civ 5 was 1v1ing my friend on a large map with AI civs when we were new to it. I get really bad start and my civ gets boxed in so when we loaded next time I switched to one of the AI. I get one large island with about 14 cities already built by the AI and some crazy -happiness with open revolts. I eventually wrangle it down to only slight -unhappiness, while my friend has nearly conquered every civ on the mainland. Through the revolts the whole time I whipped the population to build a Blitzkrieg army of tanks and rocket Artillery, and secretly secure a landing sight at a friend city state within reach of his capital. He had way more military but spread to thin, so my army spearheaded straight to his capital and captured it. Most of his other land was conquered so losing his capital made his cities revolt.
