Greg Hambali is a world-renowned plant hybridizer, collector, and adventurer. In his lifetime he has collected a lot of plants from all over the world. We will visit his private garden/forest in this episode to see his hybridizing efforts, large aroid mother plants, important food crops, as well as future ornamental plants! This botanical adventure is full of knowledge shared by the master himself, as well as interesting sights and sounds at every turn!

That was quite the adventure! Mr. Hambali’s property looks so wild but at the same time so purposeful. Love his hybrids and it makes sense that the sale of those plants helps to fund his research. Everyone benefits!

You definitely found your niche Sean, you’re a natural at asking all the right questions and info sharing. You’re a top notch reporter/interviewer!!! I’d want to get in there so badly and pick off all the brown foliage and rake the pathways!!! It looks dangerous! 😂 lots of hiding places for venomous snakes and crazy critters!!! And can’t believe you were able to keep the camera as steady as you did!! That’s growing as close to nature as you can get!

Right in the beginning when you were walking through the tall weeds I was just about to type a comment, saying "do they have ticks in this region?" and before I could hit send you mention cobras. LOL.

Didn't know Medinilla yet, but I do indeed see that it is sold by a lot of bigger plant shops here in NL :) I thought I knew the common ones (here) by now 😆 Plant world is just too big to know it all, that's what keeps it interesting. Always something to discover, check out, learn😄

Hi Sean. I have noticed in my plant conservation journey that the most bright and radiantly colored plants are from Indonesia. I hope you will feature more nurseries in Indonesia most especially those in Sumatra and Bali

Buahnya satu keluarga dengan longan dan rambutan... Daunnya mirip paku-pakuan... Ini syurga dunia???? Hufff... Terbayang bila ada kesempatan boleh dibuka untuk umum. Pengetahuan di dalamnya... Keindahan di dalamnya... Dan sosok Mr. G Hambali yang luar biasa... Sangat menarik hati dan fikiranku berkelana melayang ke alam yang belum pernah kukunjungi... Musti ada yang mencatat dan membukukan pengetahuan Mr Greg Hambali sebelum beliau berpulang. Dan dengan arahan beliau dan keluarga dibuatkan blue print ke depan ingin dijadikan apa nursery yang tlah beliau rawat puluhan tahun lamanya. Apakah akan dijadikan Taman Penelitan atau Taman semacam kebon raya Bogor/ Kebon Raja Bogor??? Dan bagaimana bentuk penangan keberlanjutan impianinpian Mr. Greg atas tanaman-tanaman syurgawi itu.... Hufff.... Sean... Terimakasih sekali lagi yaa....

Im guessing 70-80 years old. He is very physically fit actually… and his mind race faster than most people I met, always observant and thinking.

The nurseries here are spread out. But I guess I could recommend “jalan taman anggrek” next to Ragunan Zoo. Theres about 30+ nurseries/resellers there. It might take a while to go through all of them as it is large.

Oh yes. what we commonly think as flowers are the bracts and flowers come out from them. Someone showed me how pollenation happens with calatheas by bees and its genius! They trap the bee temporarily in the flower

hmm not just any cobra , indonesia is quite famous for king cobra , not sure if there spitters , just watch where you step on , thats important

King cobras dont spit but they have feromon in their pee that would keep other snakes out of their nest. So if a king cobra nesting there, it would be no other snake around.

@@gusmanagusmana6669 think you read wrongly , i didnt mention a king can spit venom , and where you get info snake has pheromones to warn other snake ? never heard of it , only when mating they can detect each other of the same species
