I was born in Cebu and my Cebu Blue Pothos is one of my most favorite plants in my collection of plants. Their color is so unusual and the leaf shape too. Mine grew so much larger after I repotted it and had it outside in much brighter indirect light. It has now become so large and so heavy to carry. It’s still in a larger planter as a hanging plant y but so tempted to let it grow upwards to start its fenestrations. Love your videos! Thank you again!

I recently saw a video from the winding root where she explained the difference between this plant which is the Epipremnum pinnatum and the Epipremnum pinnatum cebu blue. As this plant matures it develops a leaf similar to that of the Monstera Monster plant and NEVER turns blue. Whereas the cebu blue develops the color almost immediately, and doesn’t need to grow out of the adolescence phase to obtain the color. My question to you is although both come from the same island, WHY doesn’t the green plant turn blue if it’s the cebu blue? She also mention that Many Owners of the so called cebu Blue have in fact the fake variety as seen in this video. Simply based on logic or the process of elimination, I use the concept of, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, What is it. So please explain this, since you live in the Philippians.

@@brianhardaway9716 I actually live in the US but was born in Cebu. I read about the Tibatib from someone and I know that to be quite common. The Cebu blue is a plant I acquired in the US. Mine grew quite large and full and it has allowed me to propagate several cuttings already. I can’t explain anything regarding your inquiry as I am no plant expert but I can only say things from my personal experience

@@brianhardaway9716 Hello. I'm from the Philippines. I have both the regular (green) Epipremnum pinnatum and the Cebu Blue. Aside from Cebu Blue having a silvery blue hue, when it fenestrates the leaves produce holes before spliting completely.
@brianhardaway9716
@brianhardaway9716 2 жыл бұрын
@@ProximaCentauri88 thanks a lot. I was tempted to get one but thanks to you and other Plant Parents I now know the difference. The plant that I was about to gets Mutter wasn’t a Cebu Blue which meant that the leaves wouldn’t split. There’s so many plants that are so similar sometimes that One has to be well informed or you will buy what you think is something and it’s something else. Like the Alocasia Polly and the Frydek for example where the leaf form looks similar but one is smooth and shiny and the other plush and soft. Thanks again for the help.✌🏿

We commonly see the common form of cebu blue, which is the dragon's tail, here in the Philippines. Locally called "tibatib". It's even easy to find them around metro Manila wrapping itself on an old tree and concrete walls. The cebu blue variety is really rare, originally found in dense forest of Cebu island, hence the name. I have seen a lot of online sellers labeling the regular form as cebu blue, when in fact it's not. So be careful buyers out there. Though I personally love both of them. Even the regular form is a real beaty. Great video by the way!
@brianhardaway9716
@brianhardaway9716 3 жыл бұрын
I currently saw a video that described the Dragon tail as Bein the Cebu Blue hence the name and the one that looks like a Monstera as being the fake one. Many buyers are told the Fake one, which never has blue leaves is sold as a cebu blue, but later as the leaves develop and loose the Dragon tail form, it’s said to be a Young Plant? I don’t leave in the Philippines but why isn’t this plant BLUE when its a cebu Blue? I also have heard that both come from the Island of Cebu and are of the Epipremnum pinnatum art BUT one is Blue and the other isn’t? So what’s the truth? Logically I would suppose that if the plant isn’t Blue it can’t be the cebu blue.

I live in the Philippines and I bought my first Cebu Blue in 2019 for an insane price of 1,500 pesos or about $25 (US) which I found expensive for a plant that's endemic to my country. Mine has multiplied quickly but haven't' fenestrated yet. I should give them a better pole. I find Cebu Blue more beautiful when grown next to a regular green pinantum because their different colors are highlighted. Terima kasih for the tips!

The Cebu Blue is in such a demand here in the states. I managed to find a small plant of it that I have trying to get growing. It's taking me a while but I'm hoping it will be nice and bushy by the end of the year.

I really felt your pain when you snapped the second leaf and then mushed the end of your cutting with the secateurs! Been there so many times 🤣 I'm sure a plant that size grew back very fast!

Attach a second moss pole on top of the first moss pole. When the plant grows to the top of the second pole, cut the stem where the two poles meet. Boom. Two full moss poles. Makes propagation easier

Go lots and lots of it, such a fast grower and prolific plant, propagates easily but it is very prone to root rot, I recommend to not let the watwr root to form long, I only let them grow an inch or inch and half and I pot it in soil, I've found out by many trials that if you let the water roots get long and plant it, they will rot or have a very hard time getting used to soil. Most of mine died during an unexpected freeze in texas and now, 3 months after; I got lots of it again because they grow so fast. They propagate super easy from wet sticks, especially in sphagnum moss.

Cebu is a very high demand plant. It's not a plant you see in abundance in the states. Even though Costa Farms is producing it, it's like a unicorn when you find one and it's unusual JUST ONE. I saw a sad cutting in a nursery sell for $50. Next day I found a big hanging basket packed full for $15 grown by Costa. It's also auctioned for big bucks. I'm going to grow a few stems on a pole and see what becomes of it. I've already too cuttings that we're naturally air layering.

I have a Cebu blue pothos in a coir pole that I wanted to transfer to a taller is sphagnum moss pole. My question is is this possible can I carefully remove it from the pole and replant it and some of the aerial roots are bounded can I just cut some of those
@onlyplants
@onlyplants 2 жыл бұрын
Hello its very difficult to transfer aerial roots, not to say that its impossible. You will have to tie the aerial roots really well to the new pole. Also epipremnums are impossible to remove from the surface that its rooted into

Sean I wonder if you could cut the moss pole and open it up, would that make it easier to loosen the moss and roots then you could make the pole up again.😊
