Once someone said in a video that Ono doesn't has various techniques 🤣🤣🤣🤣 normally he doesn't need more than his specials but he is absolutely complete Judoka. In Tachi-Waza and Ne-Waza. His Olympic final for example he won with Hiza-Guruma or an other kind of Ashi-Waza. He is brilliant.

Shohei Ono and Toshihiko Koga my absolute all time favorites

Me, too. These two judo-kas exemplify the beauty of Japanese style judo. So many smooth and beautiful techniques that they exhibit. Not brute force or out of control charging.

Don't get ridiculous. The Korean master Jeon Ki-Young could have beaten Ono. He's jusy another great Japanese player for this generation, like Koga, who recently passes was; may his soul rest in peace.

I dunno about that. Ono's record is pretty impeccable. He will go down as one of the greatest judoka of all time, especially if he gets 3 olympic golds.

@@JudoHighlights2015 I would love it if he did though. If he manage to keep his conditioning and most importantly his will to win I think he would still be the favorite to gold.

@@JudoHighlights2015 What about as a 31 yr old bulked up and fighting at U81kg? I’m sure he’d still shift those players and the weight and conditioning may be easier to maintain. It would be a new challenge and natural career lengthening progression in the manner of Neil Adams or Ilias Iliadis. 👍🏿🙏🏿🇬🇧 PS. How do you feel about switching the Mixed teams categories to U52, 63, U78, plus U66, 81, and U100kg? Do you agree it would increase nations’ participation and raise the quality with the much larger pool of fighters and no ridiculous mismatched super heavyweight bouts? Plus, who wouldn’t watch Bilodid vs Tsunoda or Abe, Ono vs Casse or Muki, or Sherazadishvili vs Fonseca or Wolf? The current categories are the worst of all worlds!

You forgot to load the rarest throw of all in a competition, which was not Ono's intention, but it turned into one, and that was a Hane Goshi he scored ippon with.

I was watching your video and it seems to me that there is a little bit of confusion on how those techniques come to be. Also there's a little bit of an sumption that because somebody execute one technique with more frequency, he/she is not proficient in other techniques. In Japan many judokas are well-versed in many techniques other than their favorite techniques because there's a myriad of people and Styles here so you have to adjust and evolve with your counterparts. The techniques that he is performing are just variations brought on by competition in the same manner that other judokas have variations to their techniques in competition.

Are you telling me that he's more proficient with tomoe nage but decides to use uchi mata and osoto gari instead?
@dimelojudo26493 жыл бұрын
@@JudoHighlights2015 what I'm telling you is that when he's fighting in Japan, at his university or at the national training camps, there are people over here that know exactly which way he grips and attack; therefore, he is forced to developed other techniques. It is very similar to other countries where the level of competition and/or judokas or fighter is very high.
