Wonderful tips -- like spray sizing/starch, and adding a 1/8" "fudge factor" to the outside edges of all the block pieces. I've always done that myself, and it sure has come in handy to get consistently-sized paper pieced blocks! Thanks for your video.

Finally, a good tutorial on curve piecing! Most sites and videos gloss over this topic, or skip it entirely, or use a technique that is SOOOO complex it makes a head spin. This was straightforward and easy to understand...thank you so much!

You definitely deserve them. Very professional. Great teacher. I love the New York Beauty quilt and will follow your instructions. I have a "Craftsy" class that teaches that and haven't even used it. I have bought about 200 classes and haven't used any of them. Makes me very sad but I was in a sad place in my life, at the time, and had a very difficult time with everything. I am not there anymore, PTL!!

Just finished my 7th NYB blocks - using your method, esp. the part about making the outside edges 1/8 in. wider. My patterns (freezer paper) are not lasting long enough, only about 3-4 pieces. Perhaps I am expecting them to stick too well? Anyway I followed your suggestions along with a Karen Stone book I have and the result is just wonderful. I guess I needed your video to get moving and MAKE them! My goal is to make 1-2 each day, for a small quilt. I am using the same colors in each block - not necessarily the same fabrics, and really liking the results. BIG thank you!

I just made my first new York beauty. I can't seem to find freezer paper in the grocery stores here any more, so I used a fabric glue stick with just a spot here and there to hold them down. I also used it instead of pins when I was sewing.

Hi Nancy! Just found your channel and I love it been binge watching all of your videos especially the New York Beauty. Absolutely beautiful I have a question for you. Do you add an eighth of an inch on all of your paper piecing or just the New York beauty?
@QuiltingWithNancy
@QuiltingWithNancy 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Susan :) - thanks!! Generally speaking I do not add the 1/8" cushion around all paper piecing blocks - but you could. i find that the NYB block has more of a tendency to have odd edges after piecing the curves together so that's why it helps so much. If the paper piece pattern is all straight edges you don't generally have the issue with the block not coming out the correct size. Hope this helps :)
