I was guided through a simple small paper piecing project a few years ago and it came out very nice. I then followed the directions for cutting paper pieced blocks for an entire quilt; after watching this I think I would have been better off cutting the pieces 1" larger as you did; I'm having trouble already and I've only sewn 1, 2, and 3 - all unsuccessfully! Your clear video is a great help! Thanks so much.

LOVE!! I just recently learned to quilt the traditional way in a quilting 101 class and the points not matching up were driving me crazy. Some blocks were sewn and ripped many times in trying to match up those points. The instructor said not to worry about it because 'finished is better than perfect.' I was losing all interest in learning to quilt and felt I wasted my money for the class. Then I discovered 'foundation paper piecing!' This is exactly what I wanted to learn and I am so excited!! Thanks so much for doing these videos as they are a blessing to this 'new' quilting student.

I didn't think I was interested in foundation paper piecing until I started hearing about the virtues of its precision, and saw some patterns on QuiltWorx.com. Its precision appeals to the OCD side of me. By the end of the previous video I had ordered a few supplies, and before the end of this video has added a bottle of Best Press to the list.

So I guess you keep the paper on when spraying sizing on the block because it keeps the different colored patches within the block (that are sewn on the bias) from from stretching?
@QuiltingWithNancy
@QuiltingWithNancy 8 жыл бұрын
That is correct. Spray sizing before you trim the block keeps them from stretching, than you can take off the paper carefully. Enjoy your quilting!
