I am filipino with my first job is onsite in PH then later got a remote job for a US company. Americans are very direct in needing to get their message across conpared to working in filipino orgs where you have to go to your supervisor, then the supervisor goto to the manager...and most Filipinos i have worked with prefer to preserve thier titles and the authority it brings so i was really in culture shock when i started talking to americans and they were just, hey its mike the ceo, can you get this thing working and get back to me when ts done?

What should be minimum salary in SEK for an Indian and how much is tax?
@vikramshankar3144
@vikramshankar3144 8 ай бұрын
@@dayanandpatil4098 depends on your profession. If you are a software professional, around 45,000Sek before tax is considered average. Tax is 30% until 50,000 sek and 50% over and above 50k slab

This is a very good advice Anand. I had a similar experience when I came to US in 2007, although I had very good programming skills, but I never had the opportunity in India to do any presentations. This is something that Americans pushed me into and slowly I learned the right way doing presentations. My advice to the newcomers would be don't try to speak too fast during the meetings and don't try to speak in American accent. People here very well understand our way of speaking and try to be clear when you spell out the words.

You bring up great points to elicit the difference in how work gets done in the US vs India. The other important aspect of personal interactions in the US is that the position hierarchy does not dictate how we are expected to behave since everyone behaves professionally regardless of whether the audience consists of C-level officers or colleagues. We don't need to get permission to enter an office or meet with someone as long as we extend the courtesy of providing advance notice of a meeting and have the other person commit their time. This eases so much stress that employees normally experience from position hierarchy in India.

I was in Offshore project 5 yrs back when i joined Tcs.. culture is totally different where little scope of offshore people of directly having contact with client. Onshore people deals with client and some people in project have made client (Product owner) like god even afraid of his mails. As fresher i thought this is the way of working in IT. Now working with european based mnc and staffer for client.. i have seen drastic change.. where i am connecting daily with product owner, working alongside and not working behind curtains. May be offshore model needs to be changed and teams should have client should not have connect via onshore teams and enable teams to be near fire where the action is. I know that takes away show off rights from on shore team of work that they have not done but credit should go where its due.

You are so perfect explaining the scenarios. Within 1St 6 months of my career at offshore oneday I joined status call without my team lead. That day's 30 mins I will remember forever. I couldn't understand their pronounciation, hearing their loughing I also started loughing but didn't know why 😂

Sir, Thanks for your video and what you said is absolutely right. I too had same experience, Due to an emergency requirement in my past project I had travelled to Europe. Just like you I had to do a direct client facing role where calls, direct meetings, group and individual discussions were became everyday routine for me, which I never used to. Initially I struggled a lot. But people were very supportive. Definitely it was transformation phase for me.from an L2 engineer who knows only to talk broken English, now I am doing a client facing role with leading a team of 20 more peoples.

Thanks sir this is really motivating. I'm an extreme introvert but I've been able somewhat defeat my fear of speaking out in client calls. Still I have this fear and I need a senior during calls. I have a lot to learn and improve. When I ask my dad about this he just says " MBA kar lo"

Sir it was really motivating to hear your thoughts. I am actually in a lot of self doubt now. I am 9yrs experienced and have just joined one of the big 4 firms as a manager. I have a little bit of experience as a team lead but absolutely zero project management experience. Also the range of skills required here is way more than what I had done earlier so I need to upskill very fast as well. It will be really helpful if you can share your thoughts or any advice.

I think it is important to build personal rapport and relationship with people once you are onsite. You have to become one of them while keeping in mind that you are representing a different company. You can not strictly think from technical perspective, you have to understand a real life situation and adapt accordingly. It is hard to say no when you have a situation in front of you, you are talking to someone face to face, the person is expecting something. Your communication skills, your presence of mind, alertness, technical skills, your ability to handle situation when things are not favorable, etc have to be sharp and on point.
