Got the same email for mine. When I went to take the amp out I discovered the fuse was already blown. It's 1 of 3 subs in my room and with 3 young kids in the house and always listening at low volumes these days I hadn't realized it wasn't working anymore. Replaced the fuse and it burned up the moment I plugged the rca cable back in without a source even playing and the sub still in standby. Wonder what the issue is.

Awesome vid! I'm running four Rythmiks (dual FVX15s and dual L12s) and keep all of them on high dampening. It gives you a tighter and quicker response - which makes it better for both movies and music in my opinion. I love my Rythmiks; I can't foresee ever going to any other sub.

Im looking at two Rythmic F18s, or Two JTR RS1. Have you seen any direct comparisons?
@PolkFan8 ай бұрын
@Espiritiv Nah. JTRs are gonna be louder than all get out - crazy SPL numbers, but I don't think they'll have the same level of articulation as Rythmiks. It's hard to beat the articulation of a servo sub. At the end of the day, why have subs capable of significant SPL levels if it's more than you'll ever use? Once integrated with your system, you'll end up with too much overhead. Which is a waste.

That's super awesome! Gotta love those super deep digging subs. I'm all about the 18 inch + subs, smaller drivers simply don't pressurize my room. Servo technology is insane, I swear it's the future of good sub design but so many manufacturers stay away from it. It's nice to see a name like Rythmik show the others how it's done with this technology.

I ended up choosing the Rythmik F12G. The difference with these is they are designed for music. They use a GR Research driver, low-mass paper cone, so they are very VERY fast. Also bass extends cleanly down to 15Hz with a gradual roll off below that (typical for most Rythmik models). Now on my AV system for movies it is just as impactful as what you experienced with F18, but with music the speed really shows off in the F12G. I found this to be the best sub they make. I had the F18 you show in this video, and found the same limitations you experienced. This is why I switched to the F12G and it hits all the marks. It's sort of a sleeper model for Rythmik. You may want to try and review the F12G, especially since you like the REL (which I had also). I do prefer the F12G. Power might be a limiting factor for you since these only use the 370W amp. However, in my room with two I experienced no issues power wise.

The the one comparing to the F18 would be the psa S1812 look at the web site they are very similar in price, and the F18 looks pretty comparing texture finish...i just didn't want to buy into the servo technology,...good luck my friend...plus i never felt sonic pressure before, and im addicted..

Hello! I hope this comment finds you in a well state, our family is planning to get a home theater and we were wondering, after watching your video, is the F18 or FV18 better for our home theater? I would appreciate it if you respond. (Only if you have time)

It's hard to get excited about powered subs once you go dyi. It's pay 2-4 times as much for half the power(tossing 2000 watts at 4 ohms at mine), in exchange for plug and play and pretty looks. A large sub like that needs like a month to loosen up and break in.

Given that you tried this sub with all room correction off, do you think the punchiness could be enhanced with it calibrated?

For Music i would think you would need a larger room to get the full impact of a woofer that size or you may need to be seated further a way with fundamental bass notes. I remember selling car audio and 8" Bass drivers had more impact in the car and 12" subs sounded better outside of the car for impact than in the car itself. I am wondering if that would the situation at least for music in the home. Maybe try walking right outside of the room and see if you feel more impact ? i could be all wet on that. I do own their 12" sealed aluminum driver woofer and in my room it is all that i need. Things start falling off the walls.

Great review Shane 👍🏼 Do you think you can maybe add your impressions with the performance of one sub sounds on your room as well? This way for those who can't spring for 2 at one time can get both opinions. Thx

I bought 1 of there 1st vented 18s, years ago. Weather from pushing it too far or lightning damage. They had me send amp in and amp was fine. Saying my driver had burned up, which is very rare. Even being past the warranty he had me pay shipping and gave me the option of the new paper cone. Which I took and they replaced the driver fir nothing the owner and customer service is second to none! I spoke with Tom of PSA about a second woofer and I give him credit the man didn't lie or try to sell me, and warned me of the SVS over bought publicly. I have had the police called 4 times and had to go to court with sound measurements, and got it dropped with agreement to turn it off by 7. This review should have waited to work in the 18 mine took 2 months to properly break in. We measured levels just under 11hrz. But sub crawl must be properly done but when Tom said to purchase a 2nd Ryth. I knew it was something special that his 18 is good but down low the Rythmik will dig deeper and dont mix subs. But I warn you neighbors will complain about bass shaking from movies cause the low output sucks the glass in my house in and out and I do try to keep neighbors happy. I'm 48 and after years of subs I'll stick with this brand for life.

Shane... dual Rythmik F18 or dual KEF KF92 for a room that is 14x24 with open staircase (no door). I don't play movies super loud, but I do raise volume to a nice level at times to give a more immersive feel as done in theaters.

Great review and perfect timing! I currently have dual F12SE and looking to upgrade. Currently testing out a pair of FV15HPs. They certainly have more output and have a smoother deeper sound than the sealed 12". But I do notice that the FV15HPs have less chest hitting punch or sharply defined attack. They are still fast and not flabby at all. Just smoother, deeper, and less sharply defined as the smaller 12" sealed. I am not sure if this a function of driver size or sealed vs ported? You mentioned you lost some of the punch in the F18s but the visceral depth and power was certainly there correct? Or are you shifting your observation with more listening that the F18s are indeed punchy and fast?

Hi SpareChange May I ask how you set up your subwoofer? How did you set your crossover crossover frequency and when does your subwoofer start playing. When I watch Fury, my SB3000 Sub only plays when there are explosions or Tank/german pak firing. Normal gun fire is only output through my speakers and a bit of sub in the background.

Ive had smaller Rhytmik in my somewhat large room 19x 30 x9, as well as REL,Arendal , Klipsch (the podcaster who has big klipsch and JTRs homes in his theater si definitely onto something -i don’t have that space-but like him , I can’t recommend klipsch subs in this level of competition) and SVS (but boot to be fair JTR,PSA or JL) Shane is spot on in emphasizing you have to consider what subs use will be -for pure music, always go REL, then Arendal. For pure home theater , Rhythmik is better value than SVS, eps if you dont need room correction (ie esp you have ARC, or Direc in your processor) . I have not auditioned the latest Arendal which has gone up in price but Shane was suitably impressed; the earlier version

It would be terrific if you could get the G22 in for review from them. Not much info online from what I can find. These seem great, but Lots of us are looking for that great at movies and music sub that isn’t the best at either. Perhaps that one could still dig deep but be a better performer for music. Would love to hear your thoughts.
@deankim66873 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same. There is way more discourse on forums than KZbin on Rythmik. The G22 has dual opposing woofers, which cancel vibrations, which mean less tactile response, which is better for music. Keep in mind that smaller woofers don’t necessarily mean tighter bass because they have to have higher levels of excursion to displace the same amount of air, which means higher risk of distortion. I’m considering dual E15HP2s or dual F18s myself.

I think it is important to note that this is a good example of why these is not a one size fits all solution sub. With your smaller speakers, it is difficult to obtain some of the sound characteristics you desire using 18's. Your clearly noted the benefits on the Lower frequencies but also noticed a gap. You may find 18's integrate better with speakers with much lower extension. With the Trinnov at the helm, getting the right mix of speakers can yield the best of both worlds. As you noted, the room plays a significant role as well. You are on the right track.
