Still every deck I build if I can get the card in old foiling I will get one with old foiling no matter the price. They are just too beautiful

I don't understand why people idolizes old foils, they are all the same. The new foils post 8th edition have some art to them, they can foil the lights, or the red eyes of the card. The old foils are only shiny border and you can have 10 old green common, rare or uncommon foils and they are all the same not even a difference between sets. I like the old foils but they have 0 art to them, they are all the same.

Warlothar well the thing about new foils is they look absolutely horrendous, especially in anti-glare sleeves. Most people cannot even tell them apart from non-foils. I specifically use dragon shields (not anti glare) for that reason - they’re the only good sleeves where foils still shine through. I have a lot of my modern deck foiled out. And even so, my favorite cards in the deck are the 12 antiquities tron lands (all 12 artworks). I can’t get attached to any modern foils the way I could something like a foil crop rotation or onslaught fetch foils which I hoped Openboosters would get in this video...

​@@DrJack144I have good foils and horrendous and the quality of different sets is too different between one and other. I like old foils but they lose the shine too my invasion foils are not so shiny :(, and the drop in card quality is not the new foils fault. I like old foils but I don't want to return to only foiling the frame the same for all the cards. The card quality is not returning because of that. I have a Greg staples plains which foils the radiance of the sun in kamigawa or a surging dementia of coldsnap which foils the red eyes of the character which are great. I would like that the card quality and the foiling process is better but I don't like only frame foils all the same. I even saying that i like old foils but they are ok in the past, you could get ideas for new foils in the old ones too i suppose :) for more shiny shiny :D

@@Warlothar I like them for the very fact the art isn't foiled, all later foiling styles ruin the art and make it look worse, with the odd (very) rare exception. That is why I idolize the old foils.

Sorry you didn't get any fetches, but I LOVE Onslaught and have a ton of good memories of it. I have a distinct memory of skipping school one day and laying on the trampoline in my backyard during a cloudy day and reading the Onslaught book and then going to FNM later that week to make my first mono black deck. Good times!

I remember this block very well, in 2004 we used to pull the packs with Fetch in them and reseal and sell the rest. I would not be surprised if this was a legit resealed box. You only had to open the first 3 or 4 packs to determine where in the print run where the rares were and you could cherry-pick the rest. The more you know!

I love this block with Odyseey.. so much tribal. Kamahl Fist of Krosha used to wreck people, Cover of Darkness is awesome in any zombie/vampire deck, and Cryptic Gateway is OP! The One creatfures are awesome, Soulless One is my favorite!

This is my favorite set/block of all time. This was the last block with that "old" Magic feel. So incredibly nostalgic. Unfortunately, nostalgia is mostly what you're paying for with sets like these. Extremely difficult to make your money back.

I got into drafting heavily in odyssey, so this block came out right after, and every round everybody was waiting for two people with well-wisher decks and tons of elves take forever to finish their game as both had over 100 life.😂😂😂

Yeah you could open the top two packs from all three columns and predict the whole box with pretty accurate certainty. I didn't believe it so we tried it and it worked until you hit the foil rare and it could mess up the order.

At a local flea market an older women who's son sadly passed away was selling a whole box of loose mtg cards in this big chest. As I was sifting through I saw open pack wrappers and even a box still behind the table on the floor....she had been opening his old packs and dumping them into the chest to sell!!!!!!! Omg!!! Anyways, I spoke with her a bit and told her to please stop that and they were worth much more unopened unless you get a real lucky pull. I followed that up by asking if the box behind her was still unopened and what was it....Sealed Onslaught booster box!!! I ask how and she says she'd have to charge me at least $100 because " that's a lot of cards "... Poor naive lady, I explained I'd take it for $200 because $100 was too little which garnered a hug and a deal lol! I spoke with her after because she still has " so much of his collection " at her house. I know some of you will give me the shifty eye only paying $200, but honestly she probably would have taken under $100 if someone was a total jerk. Anyways, still haven't opened the plastic, still nervous to haha!
