Ontario First Nations leaders concerns about legislation on Métis self-governance - June 19, 2023

At a news conference on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, Ontario First Nations leaders raise concerns about new legislation to implement updates to the Métis Self-Government Recognition and Implementation Agreement between the federal government and the Métis Nation of Ontario. Ontario First Nations chiefs have said the proposed legislation would harm First Nations rights in Ontario by recognizing Métis communities on what they say are First Nations territories.
