A signing ceremony is held at Queen’s Park in Toronto for an agreement making the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) an essential service under Ontario’s policing framework. NAPS is the largest First Nations police force in Canada and serves 34 First Nation communities.
In attendance are Ontario Solicitor General Michael Kerzner and Nishnawbe Aski Nation Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler, as well as deputy grand chiefs Anna Betty Achneepineskum and Mike Metatawabin, former grand chief Bentley Cheechoo, Kiiwetinoong MPP Sol Mamakwa, NAPS board chair Frank McKay, and NAPS Chief Terry Armstrong.
