Finally a great video with everything I wanted to know for tog fishing. Thank you..

This may be the most informative video on jigging for blackfish. I started jigging about two years ago and like u said it’s makes the sport way more enjoyable. Inshore we don’t have too many fish that fight as tough as blackfish. I use a e6x bass rod and a 2500 Shimano stradic 15lb braid with 20lb fluoro leader. Tidal tails are definitely the way to go but other jig makers are almost as good.

Man you aren't kidding about them being fun.... a keeper sized tog is absolute hell on a medium spinning rod

Great Video! I just started getting into tog fishing this season. I was using the double uni knot but the fg knot looks like a better and lower profile knot. Also, I was told to cut the crab in half, cut off the legs and also take off the back shell. But you keep the crab intact and live. Will try it your way and see what happens. Thanks for the great information!

Glad you enjoyed the video! Tautog fishing is so much fun and very addictive. I'm sure more people will be fishing for them soon.

How long of a flourocarbon leader do you typically use?

Is the slim wave MH or H? I love the tsunami rods! I’ve been using a st croix mojo inshore with the evict. Starting to think that rod isn’t sensitive enough for jigging tog.

That's the 6'4" MH. We'll put links to all the gear in the description. The Mojo Inshore is a great rod especially for casting, but it's not quite as parabolic as the Slimwave.
