Colorado here. What y'all are going through opened my eyes. I have been accessing what risks are possible here. By habit I am fairly prepared but adding to that. Communications with my kids is one area I am lacking. We are all waiting for our GMRS radios, got the license. I live on a high point in our area and have line of sight to both their locations. Don’t get me wrong, no one is saying women aren’t doing anything before anyone decides to feel they want to be upset - there have been many and they’ve made their communities proud, but let’s be honest here with reality: men, by large, have been deep out in muck with 8+ of them pulling and moving things as one, running equipment so many hours, cutting trees and loading them up, moving out the large loads of damage, etc. You look at these teams of helpers and … well … it’s majority men. From young ones coming out to be apart of something, gain experience, and help to older ones leaving families and their jobs behind to be there to help around the clock because they know the government has abandoned these people in actuality when we look at what they should be doing. So, yea, of course people will give thanks to everyone helping and praise them, but we definitely need to praise the men doing what they can.

There is just something very heartbreaking when I see a man cry, I can't even begin to imagine what this wonderful man has seen while working and helping all the victims from this hurricane as well as all the other people just like him doing all they can to help. I am so sorry about your dad being in hospital. The emotional trauma is as real as the physical, material loss. Im a survivor in western nc. My emotions have been all over the place. Loss, grief, sadness, guilt, pain, love, gratitude, anger, wondering why? But I realize everyone in this area has been thru an unexpected horrendous traumatic situation. How do you prepared for a hurricane, for Christ sakes in the mtns of western NC? How? If youre not familiar with something, something that completely foreign to you, strange, what do you do. I dont think anyone predicted how terrible this was going to be. Noone that I know could coach anyone of hurricane preparedness. We're mtn folks. I weep everyday for these people, my people, my mtns. The place I was born, raised, played, schooled, married, worshipped, socialized, danced, dated, laughed, cried, new births, elderly deaths, just life. Its hard and very overwhelming at times. Im blessed, ive not suffered great personal loss. But then again, Ive suffered monumental loss, just knowing families, friends, neighbors, fellow carolinians have suffered and are trying to cope with this horrific outcome. It tears my soul all to pieces. Im sending, love, hugs, my mtn heart and love to everyone in this area. And god bless, truly bless the volunteers from all over the USA and Canada. I am new to Florida it seems that you can't really totally prepare for a hurricane and if it's bad, you have to evacuate. I can see how absolutely blindsided you all were a Hurricane in the Mountains!?? I've seen videos of questionable activities before this happened and it's just to much of a coincidence with the dam failing which in turn created most of the destruction and loss of life from what I am gathering through video testimony. My heart breaks for you all I wish I could make everything right for all the victims of this tragedy. ! FEMA was just caught with their pants down trying to hide 350 trucks full of equipment ( most believe donations ) in Oskota Michigan Nobody was going to talk about that very shandy move but a small KZbinr Heather blew up the story and the response was even more strange and made even less sense unless you never wanted anyone to know about it in the first place as the City official that mentioned it during the City's meeting suddenly stepped down two days later edited his official post after mentioning it and FEMA is acting like it's all some sort of just looking into stuff not actually doing stuff scenario but when he mentioned it at the town meeting it was exciting because FEMA was going to give them a grant brand new air hanger to move all the equipment around and why they said Yes to it in the first place. Edit we need to watch them very closely now because they tipped their hat we know 350 trucks are desperately trying to find a nice quiet hiding spot so be on the look out at any other decommissioned Air Bases.

They were no doubt. I have sent $ through my church and a guy I follow on KZbin and will continue but how I wish I could come and be there physically to help. This is traumatizing even for those of us who know what's going on but feel powerless to really help. I felt the same about Maui but this hits really close to home and my whole family is from this area for generations tho most of them left over a hundred years ago and ended up in MS, out roots are in Appalachia. My heart and prayers are with these people daily. I'm just so so sorry. I want to wrap everyone in love and comfort. Love to you as well. May we all heal and rest one day in the arms of God. ❤

I have very limited access to MSM news but I’ve noticed they are not addressing the many fatalities of this catastrophe. I am so sorry for all of the affected people and families. For days the MSM kept saying about 250 fatalities, while people on the ground were saying 2,000 plus easy. Eyewitnesses. The MSM does not seem to ever have updated the figures. Same in Maui and same in Gaza. Thousands of percentage more deaths than reported.

Those helping with the disaster clean up need to document everything. It’s so important to have indisputable undeniable evidence of what they are witnessing. The sheer horror the victims of this disaster experienced with virtually no way to escape it, for many people, because it was so unexpected. It went from being what most people thought was only going to be a rain event where they just had a day or two of rain, but they got a deluge of rain leading to an unprecedented flash flooding event. It's just hard to contemplate what all of the people and animals caught up in this went through and what those who survived and those helping to pick up the pieces are experiencing. It weighs heavily on my heart. 💔😢 That being said, the average people who are not paid emergency disaster relief personnel, who mobilized via social media and within their churches or community organizations to acquire food, water, and other basic resources to help the victims, and started getting it where it needed to be to help people moved me to tears and still does. The simplest thing that can seem almost inconsequential to one person can mean everything to a person in a crisis, particularly if they've lost everything. Those communities will become even more tightly knit together as the survivors rebuild their lives.

Some buddies & I went up with everything we had (chainsaws, pole saws, shovels, non-perishable food, water, toboggan’s, mittens & gloves for the kids etc) and we ran supplies all day everyday, after off-loading what we had taken. Our current Admin/ Gobernment has certainly failed “We The People” up there “Bigly!!” I talked with a lot of folks who hadn’t even seen FEMA, nor the Red Cross weeks after the devastation had occurred, this just after the reports were starting to trickle-in about only receiving a measly $750 apiece…To that point, a lot of them were being denied already!?!! Hang on folks, our government is get’n ready to change for the better very soon & “Bigly!!!” Prayers ❤ & Hope!!!

My cousin and I left Maine and went down to help with 3 three friends. While dividing to conquer, one of me friends went into Camp miller in Pensacola. We’re all very blessed to have gone down to help the awesome people of Appalachia. Thanks for sharing info on this tragedy.
