Onwettige myners op Kleinzee
Met De Beers wat grootliks onttrek het en sy diamantmynaktiwiteite by Kleinzee gestaak het, het onwettige myners, of te wel Zama-Zamas, hier toegesak. Duisende hoopvolle delwers het met pike, grawe en siwwe begin soek na splintertjies diamante tussen Hondeklipbaai en Port Nolloth. Pogings is onderweg om die kleinskaalse myners te probeer reguleer.
After De Beers largely abandoned their mining activity in Kleinzee, illegal miners, or Zama-Zamas as they are known colloquially, have descended on the area. Here, between the towns of Hondeklipbaai and Port Nolloth thousands of hopeful delvers work with hand tools, and primitive mining equipment in the hope of extracting diamond splinters. There are however attempts to fomalise and regulate these small scale miners.

When theres dry desolate land , little food, hope is a cliche and jobs are non existent...then someone found a diamond . One gigantic company got all the rights and the people from this unforgiving land got nothing! To set the record straight the company should give back a good couple of billion to a project to get these guys mining the scraps left over ! 🧐🤬🤮 .
