This has been very helpful. Thank you! Is there a way to see if certain roads or trails are allowed to travel with ATV's? Thanks in advance
@TheBeginningHunter5 жыл бұрын
Jerry f you go into your layer library, then into trails and rec, there is a layer called Motor Vehicle Roads and Trails. That layer determines what roads are open/ restricted to certain vehicle types! Hope this helps!

Does this app have location sharing like BaseMaps? Tracking your hunting buddies? Knowing where each others are?

Kevin this was a very helpful and informative series you put together. Well done!! I only learned of onX recently from a friend I contacted looking for info on where to find prairie dogs in Wyoming. I saw on the onX page there is an in app purchase just for prairie dogs. It claims to show the location for I think it was 16K towns across several western states. Have you used it by any chance or know how good it is? When I say good, I mean does it actually point one in the right direction? My friend claims prairie dogs are 'all over the place' but he's been known to exaggerate :-)

sjohnson1776 thanks for the positive feedback on the program, and I am happy it was useful for you! I haven’t used the prairie dog feature before, to be quite honest. If there was one feature that I was the least familiar with it’s that layer. I have heard that folks have had great success getting into a general area for prairie dogs which is what the layer was designed for, overall. I did reach out to onX with some additional questions and during the course of that they allowed me to give you the prairie dog layer, for free, to check out for yourself. If you already have the app, just let me know your email address and the onX support team will plug it into your account free of charge. Hope you can use it for some sweet success my friend!

@@TheBeginningHunter Oh my gosh! Thank you so much and to onX as well! That's awesome! I still have 4 days of my free trial left to go. I'll at least pick up Wyoming once the trial is over. My email is scjohnson 1776 @ gmail dot com. No spaces or 'dot' of course. (Didn't want to make it ridiculously easy for spammers to grab my email.) My buddy in Kansas City that's very big on onX and turned me onto it is going to be just a little envious. LOLOLOL Thanks again!!

@@TheBeginningHunter They sure did!! In the few minutes I've spent looking at it, I've already identified a couple areas that should be good shooting including marking waypoints to get to them. So cool!!! Again, thank you to you and onX for making this happen. So much appreciated! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

is there a way you can punch in coordinates and the program drive you to that site? I do not know when I go that I have cell service where I go here in maine so I am not sure what map to save. So I want to be able to have a GPS and gather coordinates that I can punch in later at home so I can then view the area I was with no service to use the phone out in the mountains. Thank you God bless and Good hunting. Maine North Woods Hunter

Maine North Woods Hunter Excellent question! So, if I were you, I would be saving maps to your on X account but using the 10 mile wide template. That will give you a lot of room to save a lot of maps. Now, if you go into the app and use the search feature you can look for latitude and longitude and it will show up even when you don’t have service. However, you need to make sure that that map is saved otherwise it will just be a location showing up on a gray background. When you have that chunk of area saved to your maps you will be able to actually see where you are geographically. I save a ton of areas using the 10 mile wide grid and you’ll be pretty surprised how much you can save when you use that size. Hopefully this helps!
